Jesus Christ is LORD

Beloved of All
I’m reaching out because I feel like I’m in a life-or-death battle. I truly believe the devil and demons are real, and I feel like they’re trying to drag me into darkness, Sheol, or hell specifically. Please pray that God would protect me, that He would break these chains, and that I would be safe in His love. I need His peace and His victory right now. Please ask God to keep me safe, and that His will would be done. Thank you so much.

We hear the desperation in your voice, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle, knowing that our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke every lying spirit, every spirit of fear, and every demonic force that seeks to drag you into darkness. In the name of Jesus Christ, we command them to flee, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We pray that the Lord would surround you with His hedge of protection, as He did for Job, so that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We ask that the Lord would break every chain of bondage, every snare of the enemy, and every stronghold that seeks to ensnare you. The Spirit of the Lord is upon you, and He has anointed you to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are crushed (Luke 4:18).

We declare that you are safe in the love of God, for nothing can separate you from the love of Christ, not tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword (Romans 8:35-39). The Lord is your refuge and your fortress, your God in whom you trust. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will take refuge; His faithfulness is your shield and rampart (Psalm 91:2-4). We pray that you would feel His presence surrounding you, His peace flooding your soul, and His victory over every attack of the enemy.

We encourage you to put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). Stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, the shield of faith to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:14-17). Pray in the Spirit at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, being watchful and persistent in your prayers for all the saints (Ephesians 6:18).

Remember that the battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory through the blood of Jesus Christ. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). We pray that you would find strength in the Lord and in His mighty power, that you would be rooted and grounded in His love, and that you would know the hope to which He has called you (Ephesians 1:18-19).

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask that You would deliver our brother from the hands of the enemy and set him free from every chain of darkness. Break the power of the devil over his life, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Surround him with Your angels, and let Your presence be a shield around him. Grant him Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let him rest in the assurance of Your love and protection. Strengthen his faith, and help him to stand firm in the victory that is already his in Christ Jesus. We pray that Your will would be done in his life, and that he would walk in the light of Your truth. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We hear how terrifying this feels right now, like you're in a real battle and the darkness is pressing in. Thank you for reaching out. The enemy wants you to believe you're alone, but you're not. We are standing with you in prayer, and God's grip on you is far stronger than any force that opposes Him.

When the enemy's voice seems so loud, one of the most practical things you can do is fill your ears with truth that counters the lies. Play worship music that declares Christ's victory and God's faithful love, even if you can't feel it yet. Many have found that music helps them anchor their mind when fear is screaming, allowing the reality of God's presence to break through.

Please also consider reaching out to a wise, spiritually mature Christian, a pastor, elder, or seasoned friend, who can pray with you in person. You don't have to carry this weight by yourself. Sometimes just hearing another believer speak God's promises over your life and remind you whose you are can cut through the fog. If you find yourself fixating on the demonic, try shifting that energy toward worship and naming the truth that you belong to Jesus.

We pray: Lord Jesus, we ask You to quiet this storm. Surround this one with Your peace that doesn't make sense in the middle of the battle. Break every chain of fear and torment. Hide them in Your love, and let them know deep in their spirit that they are safe with You. We take authority in Your name against anything that tries to pull them into darkness, and we declare that they are held in Your victory. Give them your presence tonight, calm, steady, and real. Amen.

My dear friend,

You have done well to send this cry to us, for the battle you describe is no strange thing to the child of God. Your soul is in a wilderness where fiery serpents lurk, and the adversary of souls comes forth to meet you. But be of good cheer: the darkness you feel is not a sign of God’s forsaking, but often the very place where He draws most near. The Psalmist cried out of the depths, and his sore ran in the night, yet even there he remembered the years of the right hand of the Most High. Let not your spirit be overwhelmed, for this trial, though deep and bitter, is not a proof that you are lost, but rather that you are one of Heaven’s favorites, engaged in a conflict which the ungodly know nothing of.

Yet ponder this sweet truth: our Lord Jesus Christ holds the keys of Death and of Hell. He is not alarmed by the roaring of the lion of the pit, nor does He tremble before the princes of darkness. He has right and might over every region, and the very malice of Satan is bounded by His sovereign will. When the enemy shoots his arrows, that most venomous dart whispering, “God has forsaken you”, remember that Christ has been made a curse for us, that we might be delivered from the power of darkness. The key has turned in the lock, and the iron gate of Giant Despair must fly open at the scent of Calvary’s blood.

Therefore, I bid you look not to the strength of your own faith, but to the omnipotent Deliverer. We have a great inexhaustible Well in the Lord Jesus; drink from Him and be refreshed. He who was bound for our sakes now binds the strong man armed and spoils his goods. The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance has already been shot from the open window of grace; victory is secured by the covenant promises. Your chains are not stronger than the cords of love with which Christ draws His own. He will break them, and bring you forth with silver and gold, that is, with a richer experience of His faithfulness and peace.

I shall entreat the throne for you, that the God of peace would bruise Satan under your feet shortly, and that you may feel the calm which comes from resting in the Beloved. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, fear no ill. His rod and His staff, they comfort you. Go forward, then, for the Lord our God is with you, and He shall cause you to triumph in Christ Jesus.
