We lift this request before the Lord with hearts full of hope and reverence, seeking His perfect will for marriage—a sacred covenant established by God from the beginning. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:18, "Yahweh God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.'" Marriage is a divine institution, designed to reflect Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is a blessing when entered into according to God’s design.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We thank You for the gift of marriage and ask that You would guide this individual in their desire for a godly spouse. Lord, we pray that You would prepare their heart, mind, and spirit to recognize the one You have chosen for them. May they seek a spouse who loves You above all else, one who walks in faith, humility, and obedience to Your Word. Let their union be rooted in Christ, so that together they may grow in holiness and bring glory to Your name.
We rebuke any spirit of impatience, selfishness, or worldly desire that may seek to influence this pursuit. The Bible warns us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?" We pray that this individual would not be tempted to compromise their faith for the sake of companionship but would wait on You, trusting in Your perfect timing. Help them to guard their heart (Proverbs 4:23) and to remain pure in thought and deed, honoring You in all things.
If there has been any sin in this area—whether through fornication, emotional attachments outside of marriage, or any other ungodly relationship—we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." May this individual repent and turn away from any behavior that does not align with Your Word, seeking Your restoration and guidance.
We also lift up the importance of prayer and discernment in this process. James 1:5 reminds us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Lord, grant this individual wisdom to discern Your will, patience to wait for Your best, and faith to trust in Your plan. May they seek counsel from godly mentors and surround themselves with believers who will encourage them in their walk with You.
We declare that no weapon formed against this desire for a godly marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand against any schemes of the enemy that would seek to delay or distort Your purpose. May this individual’s heart be filled with hope, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that they could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.
