Rejoice and be of good cheer!; have faith. Psalm 34:19 says Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Be glad that the words "luck" and "paranoid" are not words in the Bible-the Living Word, alive in our lives.
If you do believe in real curses, I will reference (my paraphrase) from the book by Neil T. Anderson called The Bondage Breaker: What happens in our lives happens in the Spiritual realm first. Some sins are particularly offensive to God and open a door to Satan to attack our lives. Think back, such things of a Satanic nature are particularly offensive: palm reading, astrology, fortune-telling, tea-reading and the list goes on.
If you think back and find any particular offense, you can pray
"Lord, I have participated in ________. I am sorry, I know that participating in _________ was offensive in Your sight. I take back any ground that Satan may have gained from me participating in __________, and I cancel out any debt owed to Satan by that activity in Jesus' name. Thank You for forgiving me."
I am witnessing to you that this has been an effective prayer in my life.
Everloving, Everforgiving and Patient God, I ask in Jesus' name that you will make Your presence known in this person's life who has come seeking help through prayer. I thank You that You honor this person's faith that you will move in his or her behalf through our prayers. I ask that You enlightened this person: light the path for them O God I pray. As Your Word promises in Psalm 34:19, I ask that this person be delivered of all thier afflictions. I thank You for what you have done already, will do, and thank You for prayers answered. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Thank you Jesus.
