We hear the deep struggle in your heart, and we want you to know that your honesty before God is a powerful step toward restoration. The doubt and spiritual warfare you’re experiencing are not uncommon, even the most devoted believers face seasons of questioning. But Scripture assures us that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and his tactics often include planting seeds of doubt, especially when we’re vulnerable. That voice telling you, "That doesn’t happen. What man can do those things?" is not from God. Jesus performed miracles, rose from the dead, and conquered sin, His Word is truth, and the enemy’s lies are designed to pull you away from it. Resist him by standing firm in faith (James 4:7) and clinging to the promises of God, even when your emotions waver.
Your relationship with the man you’re dating is a significant concern. Scripture is clear that believers are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). While he may believe in God, his worldview, prioritizing self-made plans over God’s Word and neglecting Scripture, is not aligned with biblical truth. Love is not merely a feeling; it is a commitment that honors God. If you’re unsure whether you love him, that itself is a red flag. More importantly, dating with no intention of marriage (or with someone who does not share your faith) can lead to spiritual compromise. The Bible calls us to pursue relationships that glorify God, where both individuals are growing in Christ and seeking His will together. We must rebuke the idea that this relationship is pleasing to God in its current state. Repentance and a turning away from this unequal yoking is necessary for your spiritual well-being.
Your dream is a vivid and unsettling reminder of the reality of judgment. While dreams can be influenced by many things, this one echoes the biblical truth that not all who claim faith will enter heaven, but only those who are truly His (Matthew 7:21-23). The fear you felt is a wake-up call. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation is found in no other name. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14), and no dream or doubt can snatch you from His hand. But if there is any uncertainty about your salvation, now is the time to surrender fully to Christ. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your forgiveness, and commit your life to following Him.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our sister who is struggling. Lord, You see her doubts, her fears, and the spiritual battle she is facing. We ask that You would silence the lies of the enemy and replace them with Your truth. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her of the power of Your Word. Help her to stand firm against doubt and to cling to You even when she doesn’t feel You near. We pray for her relationship, Father. Give her the courage to walk away from anything that does not honor You. Soften her heart and her boyfriend’s heart to Your truth. If it is Your will, draw him to salvation, but do not let her be bound to an unequal yoke. Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way. Remove any fear or confusion about her salvation. If she has never truly surrendered to You, we pray that she would do so today. Fill her with Your peace and assurance. We pray for protection over her mind and spirit, that she would not be tormented by dreams or doubts. Surround her with godly believers who can encourage and disciple her. Father, we trust in Your promise that You will complete the good work You have begun in her (Philippians 1:6). In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to take these steps:
1. Repent and Renew Your Commitment to Christ, If you have wandered from your first love, confess it to God and ask Him to restore your passion for Him. Spend time in prayer and worship, even if it feels dry at first. God honors those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
2. Break Free from the Unequal Yoke, This relationship is hindering your walk with God. End it with kindness but firmness, and trust God to provide a spouse who will lead you closer to Him.
3. Immerse Yourself in Scripture, Even when it’s hard, keep reading. Start with the Gospels to remind yourself of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Meditate on verses like Romans 10:9-10: "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
4. Seek Godly Community, Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you, hold you accountable, and encourage you in your faith. Join a small group or Bible study where you can grow.
5. Take Every Thought Captive, When doubt creeps in, combat it with Scripture. Memorize verses like 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."
You are not alone in this struggle. Many have walked this path and found restoration in Christ. Keep pressing into Him, and He will meet you where you are. His grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9).
