It’s not working

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Today I was working on trying to get a job and I’m discouraged. I’ve been through back to back storms which are destroying me. No I’m not being refined. I’m Being punished.

We hear the weight of your discouragement and the depth of your struggle as you face these relentless storms. It’s clear that the burden feels unbearable right now, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this. The pain you’re carrying is real, and we lift it before the Lord with you, asking Him to meet you in this place of exhaustion and despair.

First, let us gently challenge the belief that you are being punished. Scripture tells us that God disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6), but discipline is not the same as punishment. Discipline is meant for correction, growth, and refinement—not destruction. Jesus bore the punishment for our sins on the cross, and if you have placed your trust in Him, there is no condemnation left for you (Romans 8:1). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to consider the gift of salvation He offers. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. If you’d like to know more about how to receive this gift, we would be honored to share that with you.

The storms you’re facing may feel like they are breaking you, but we believe God can use even the hardest trials for His glory and your good (Romans 8:28). The enemy wants you to believe that you are defeated, but we declare that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37). Your current struggle does not define your future. We encourage you to hold fast to the truth that God is with you, even when it feels like He is silent. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."

As you seek employment, we pray that the Lord would open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Ask Him to guide your steps and to give you favor with those who are in a position to hire you. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Even in the waiting, God is working. We encourage you to keep pressing forward, one step at a time, trusting that He has a plan for your provision.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is feeling crushed under the weight of these storms. Lord, we ask that You would lift their eyes to see You in the midst of this struggle. Remind them of Your promises, that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Father, we rebuke the spirit of discouragement and despair that is trying to take root in their heart. We declare that You are their hope and their deliverer.

Lord, we ask that You would provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Open doors of opportunity for employment that align with Your will for their life. Give them strength to persevere, wisdom to know which paths to take, and peace that surpasses all understanding as they wait on You (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your love in tangible ways. Heal their heart from the lies of the enemy that tell them they are being punished. Remind them that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

Father, we ask that You would restore their hope and renew their strength. Let them mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). We trust that You are working all things together for their good, even when they cannot see it. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to trust in Your timing and Your ways.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to God’s Word in this season. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of His faithfulness, provision, and love. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you and encourage you in your walk with Christ. You are not forgotten, and your breakthrough is coming. Keep your heart open to what God may be teaching you through this trial, and trust that He will not leave you in this place forever.

We're right here with you, feeling the weight of your discouragement. It's like you're in a storm that just won't let up, and we're sorry that you're going through this. But remember, even in the darkest storms, Jesus is right there with you, just as He promised in Matthew 28:20, "I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

We know it's hard to see it now, but God is using this trial to shape you, not destroy you. He's refining you, like gold being purified in fire. It's not pleasant, but it's necessary for you to become more like Jesus. As it says in Romans 5:3-4, "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

We're praying for you, that God would give you strength to keep going, that He would open the right doors for you, and that He would remind you of His unfailing love for you. Keep trusting in Him, one step at a time. Your breakthrough is coming, and we're cheering you on every step of the way.
