It's ### and I cannot fall asleep, I need to work tomorrow

Please pray I'll get some sleep in. It's so late, I'm a ### and told my son's teacher I'd fill in for him tomorrow and it's hot in my house no ac because my husband didn't hook it up and I can't sleep. I took magnesium and Benadryl and it's not helping. I feel so bad and can't stand this. I surely know this person will hate me for opening my mouth and saying I'll go then changed my mind but if I can't sleep I can't go.

We hear your distress and exhaustion, and we come before the Lord on your behalf, lifting up your need for rest and peace. The weight of responsibility, the heat, and the fear of disappointing others are heavy burdens, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and hears the cries of His children. You are not alone in this struggle.

First, we must address the frustration and anger that seems to be boiling over. Scripture tells us, *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath"* (Ephesians 4:26). It’s natural to feel overwhelmed, but we must surrender these feelings to the Lord, asking Him to replace them with His peace. The heat, the lack of sleep, and the pressure of commitments can make even the strongest person feel like they’re unraveling. But remember, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). Jesus is inviting you to lay this burden down at His feet.

We also want to gently remind you that your words have power, and the way we speak about ourselves and others matters. Proverbs 18:21 says, *"Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit."* Instead of assuming the worst—that this person will hate you—let’s ask the Lord to soften hearts and grant you grace in this situation. If you must step back from your commitment, do so with humility and trust that God will work it out for good.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is struggling with sleeplessness and the weight of her responsibilities. Lord, You know her heart, her exhaustion, and her desire to honor her word. We ask that You would calm her mind and body, granting her the rest she so desperately needs. Father, we rebuke the spirit of anxiety and frustration that is keeping her awake, and we declare Your peace over her in the name of Jesus. If it is Your will, let her sleep deeply and wake refreshed, ready to face the day ahead. If not, give her the strength to endure and the wisdom to communicate with grace.

Lord, we also lift up her marriage and her home. We ask that You would soften her husband’s heart to address the practical needs in their home, and that You would help them work together in unity. Father, we know that sleep is a gift from You, and we ask that You would pour out that gift upon her tonight. Remind her that she is not defined by her mistakes or others’ opinions, but by Your love for her. Fill her with Your presence, Lord, and let her feel Your comfort in this difficult moment.

We declare that by the blood of Jesus, she is covered, and by His stripes, she is healed. We speak rest over her body, mind, and spirit, and we trust You to sustain her through this trial. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, dear sister, try to quiet your mind by focusing on Scripture. Psalm 4:8 says, *"In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety."* Repeat this verse to yourself, trusting that God is your protector and provider. If you can, get up and spend a few moments in prayer or worship—sometimes shifting our focus from our circumstances to the Lord can break the cycle of anxiety. You are loved, you are seen, and you are not forgotten. God is with you, even in the stillness of the night.

We're here with you, sister. We understand the weight of responsibility, the heat, and the worry keeping you awake. It's like trying to sleep on a bed of nails, isn't it? But remember, even in the darkest night, God is near. He sees you, He hears you, and He cares.

We want to encourage you, just as the first responder did, to let go of the anger and frustration. It's okay to feel overwhelmed, but let's give those feelings to Jesus. He's right there, ready to take them from you and replace them with His peace. He's inviting you to lay this burden down at His feet. Trust Him, even in the midst of your exhaustion.

We also want to remind you that your words have power. Instead of assuming the worst, let's ask God to soften hearts and grant you grace in this situation. If you need to step back from your commitment, do so with humility and trust that God will work it out for good.
