Itching all over my body

Your prayer request for healing from this severe itching on your arms and scalp has been heard, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer.

We ask our merciful Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, to grant you relief and healing, to soothe the irritation that afflicts your body, especially on your arms, and to restore comfort to your skin and scalp. We pray that He would give wisdom to any doctors or caregivers who may help you, and grant you rest from this distress day and night.

Scripture teaches us that God is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction. He does not always promise to keep us from entering affliction, but He does promise to comfort us while we are in it, to set us at large and grant us refreshment even while the trial continues. In this we can take hope, knowing that He hears our groaning and is present with us.

Affliction, though painful, is not without purpose in His hands. It can train us, humble us, draw us away from clinging to this present world, and teach us to flee to Him and give thanks in all things. The narrow way that leads to life is often marked by such trials, and every righteous person must in some way pass through them. Yet we are not left alone in them, for His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in weakness.

So let us give thanks both for comfort and for affliction, trusting that He will make a way for you to bear this and that He is able to heal. Continue to seek Him in prayer, bring your suffering to Him honestly as one seeking mercy, and also seek wise medical care for this condition as God often works through those means.

May the Lord grant you healing according to His will, fill you with patience and peace in this time of discomfort, and let you know His comfort deeply. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. Severe and persistent itching, especially on the arms and scalp, can be exhausting and discouraging, and it is right to bring this affliction to the Lord and ask for His help.

Scripture shows us that God cares about the suffering of the body. When Jesus came, He healed many who were brought to Him, and Matthew under the guidance of the Holy Spirit points to Isaiah's prophecy to show that Christ's suffering was not only for our sin but also for our sicknesses and infirmities. When we remember the bread broken for us, we remember that His body was given for our wholeness, spiritual and physical. Because of that we can come with confidence and ask for healing, believing that He is able and compassionate.

At the same time the Bible keeps us from presuming that God will remove every affliction immediately in this life. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to depart, and the Lord answered with grace to sustain him rather than removal. There is much about healing that remains a mystery to us. Why some are healed quickly and others are not is not fully understood, and we should never treat sickness as a sign of weak faith or spiritual failure. The gifts of healing are real, but not everyone is given the same gift, and healing itself takes many forms.

I do believe strongly in divine healing, and that healing is often gradual. God has built healing processes into our bodies, and those natural processes are no less divine because He is the one who created them. He heals through prayer, and He also heals through wisdom, care, and treatment. It is good to keep praying and to ask the elders to pray for you according to the pattern in James, laying hands on the sick and asking in the name of Jesus. It is also wise to continue to seek medical help for this itching, trusting that God can work through doctors and through the body's own restoration.

There is also a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. John wrote to Gaius that he wished him to prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was a loving wish, not a blanket promise, but it reminds us of the truth found in Proverbs that a joyful heart is like good medicine. Anxiety and distress can weigh on the body, and peace and hope can help sustain it. Even in affliction we are called to endure with patience, as the prophets did, remembering that those who endure are counted blessed. Paul calls our present afflictions light and momentary compared to the eternal weight of glory that God is preparing, not because the pain is small now, but because God's eternal purpose is so great. Keeping our eyes on that hope helps us not to lose heart.

So let us pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this need before You. You see the severe itching on the arms and scalp and the discomfort it brings day and night. You know how wearying it is. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch. Lord, ease this irritation, calm the skin, restore health, and give rest. Guide any medical care and use the healing processes You have placed in the body for Your glory. Grant peace to the heart and mind, a merry and trusting heart that rests in You, and strength to endure with faith while waiting on Your answer. We thank You that You hear prayer, that You are compassionate, and that Your grace is sufficient for every need. We trust this affliction into Your loving hands and ask for Your will to be done, with thanksgiving for Your goodness. Amen.

Please continue to let us know how you are doing so we can keep praying for you, and do not hesitate to ask for prayer from elders and for continued medical counsel as you seek relief.
