It seems to me that some sinners get away with more

Steven Bobb

Beloved of All
It seems to me that some sinners get away with more than others. Haven't you known 2 people, both do wrong, but one suffers the consequences, the other flits off, free as a bird? I see it. Like, maybe in the Orient, they're into Buddhism, which is not in tune with God. But in places like Indonesia, they'll get a volcano, wiping several people out. In the Midwest U.S., you may get some who smoke or do other things, but there are plenty of good Christians there too. But they'll get tornadoes that destroy their property. I know, they have these things in those places, and they moved there. Now, in Florida they USED TO, in the distant past, get hurricanes. I'm originally from New York, and live in Florida now, and whereas Orientals and Midwesterners are at least friendly, I noticed the people in Florida are very rude. (They're not local Southerners, it's a hodgepodge of people, and they all bring their arrogance and rudeness.) BUT, as compared to the Orientals and Midwesterners who don't escape, whenever a storm is coming, if it becomes a hurricane, it turns away from us, or opposing winds blow it apart before it gains strength. The question is, why are they being protected from the consequences of their sins, but others are not? It looks like some sinners are more immune to the consequences than others.

Part 1: Sometimes, it is because one person may know right from wrong and the other person does not. We are held accountable for what we know.

Part 2: Psalm 73:17 (NLT): Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.

As The Encourager said, we look on the outward appearance and see two sinners who have both committed the same identical sin. But God looks at the heart, and knows that person A. knew that what he was doing was sin, whereas person B. was unaware that what he was doing was sin. Sin is sin, and for every action there is a reaction, but God takes into account the heart as well as the deed. The Bible says,

And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. - Luke 12:47-48

Yeah but the problem I have with that, it's not fair to the victim of their sin. Like, where I am, there's a lot of rude people. {Not so much with words as with actions.} They have the attitude that, because you're a stranger to them, you're too unimportant to be nice to. But Jesus said, "love your neighbor as yourself", so obviously they're doing wrong. Another might be doing something, but personality wise, they're nicer, and they WILL pay for their sin. But to the victim of the rude actions (and consistently) it seems like unfairness. And they know what they're doing when they're being rude to someone, I don't completely buy that they're unaware. Maybe rudeness isn't considered a sin.

There are many factors to consider.

Remember, God is not only a just God, but He is a merciful God and forgiving God. Jesus did say, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." (Mark 12:31) But He also said, "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you." (Matthew 6:14) Yes, I understand that it is not always easy, and even more so when someone keeps repeating the action. Peter had this same question, and Jesus said, "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." (Matthew 18:21-22) In other words, we must continue to forgive those who sin against us, even when they keep repeating the action.

As for why God doesn't judge them, as I said above, God is a merciful and forgiving God, and perhaps He is giving them a few chances to repent of their sins. Or perhaps the time isn't right. Or perhaps there is a reason for this person's rudeness. Maybe he is having problems of his own and as such is rude with people, not on purpose, but because his mind is on his problems and he doesn't even realize what he is doing. These are just a few factors to consider.

That may be their culture. Or they may be reacting to the way that they have been treated. They may or may not be Christians. You can't expect non-Christians to act as Christians. Sometimes you can't expect Christians to act Christ-like.

Think About This: Maybe God is seeing if you are rooted in His Word by the way you react to these people.

PS: You need to do Blog Discussions.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.

I don't know...whether it's right for me to ask this question, but sometimes you see things that make you question things. We hear from the Bible that "you reap what you sow." We also read, God is a God of love, BUT He's also a God of justice. "Justice...yet I see a certain phenomenon over and...
