We hear your request and we understand the burden you feel in your own neighborhood and the desire for peace where you live. We join together with you to seek God's will in this situation, for He knows the certain reasons you mention even when they are not detailed to us, and He knows the hearts of all involved.
We want to gently speak to the way we approach such difficulties in light of Scripture. Our natural inclination when we are troubled by those near us is to ask God to remove them, yet God calls us to a higher way. He commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves Matthew 22:39 and to love even those who cause us distress. Jesus said But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. We are also taught If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18 and Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. This does not mean we ignore wrongdoing or that we cannot seek help through proper and lawful means if there is illegal or harmful behavior, but it does mean we must check our own hearts and not pray from a spirit of vengeance or hatred. Instead we are called to pray for the good and even the salvation of those who trouble us, trusting that God is sovereign and just and that He will act according to His perfect wisdom and timing.
We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this with love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we have not yet put our trust in Jesus, we encourage you to believe in Him, that He died for our sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. Your request concerning trouble with neighbors has been heard, and we take it before the Lord with care for your soul and for theirs.
It is natural to the flesh, when vexed or grieved by those near to us, to wish them removed from our sight. Yet the Spirit of Christ leads us another way. Our Lord has taught us to pray not for the banishing of those who offend us, but for the forgiving of them, even as we have been forgiven. The Scripture says, There is forgiveness with You, and that forgiveness is divine, surprising, complete and eternal, purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.
We cannot join you in asking God to remove your neighbors from their homes, for vengeance belongs to the Lord and love seeks the good of our neighbor. Instead we will pray that the Lord will work in both your heart and theirs for His glory. We will pray that you may know more deeply that living, loving, lasting union with Christ, which bears with longsuffering and keeps no bitter record, and that from that union you may be enabled to forgive even as Christ forgave you, freely, fully, and continually.
There is forgiveness with God for every sin, and that same forgiveness, once shed abroad in our hearts, makes us to be forgiving toward others. It is a great forgiveness for great sin, and when we have tasted it we find it as natural to open our hands in mercy as before we opened them in anger. If there has been wrong done, we pray that God will give you grace to overcome evil with good, to speak the truth in love, and to seek peace and pursue it within your neighborhood.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, we confess that we are sinners in need of Your mercy through Jesus Christ alone, in whom alone is salvation.
