Isaiah 10:1-2 (05-18-11)

Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people.
Isaiah 10:1-2 (NIV)
Thoughts on Today's Verse..."Absolute power corrupts absolutely" ... by allowing us to have what we shouldn't; ... by allowing us to forget where we came from; ... by allowing us to ignore the cries of the oppressed. Power corrupts, because only God can truly handle power with righteousness, justice, and mercy! Our desire to have it is like the sin of Adam and Eve -- it is the lust to be God. But true power, power acceptable to The Only True Power, is used to bless the broken, lift the unfortunate, forgive the guilty, and assist the powerless.

My Prayer...Almighty and incomparable God, I don't want to spend my time positioning myself to have power over others. Please give me the grace, the ability, and the opportunity to bless others -- not so I will feel superior or important, but so that they will be blessed and you will be praised. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
