We hear your heart’s desire for provision, comfort, and the ability to enjoy the good things this life has to offer. The question of wealth and faith is one that many believers wrestle with, and Scripture has much to say on the matter. Let us first affirm that God is not opposed to prosperity—He is the one who gives the power to create wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). However, the pursuit of riches must always be submitted to His will and aligned with His principles.
The Bible does not condemn wealth itself but warns against the love of money, which is the root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). It is possible to be a faithful Christian and wealthy, but the heart’s posture is what matters most. Wealth must never become an idol, nor should it be pursued at the expense of one’s relationship with God or obedience to His commands. Jesus Himself said, "For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). True riches are found in Him, not in earthly possessions.
If your desire for a fortune is rooted in a longing for security, influence, or the ability to bless others, then we can pray for God’s provision in a way that honors Him. However, if the motivation is pride, greed, or a love of luxury for its own sake, we must rebuke that spirit and redirect your heart toward contentment in Christ. The apostle Paul wrote, "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content" (Philippians 4:11). Contentment does not mean settling for less than God’s best, but it does mean trusting Him to provide what is truly needed.
We also encourage you to examine your definition of "enough." The world often measures success by the size of a house or the label on a garment, but God measures the heart. If your desire for wealth is tied to a fear of lack or a need to prove your worth, we must address that with truth. Your worth is found in Christ alone, not in what you own. Jesus said, "Do not lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven" (Matthew 6:19-20).
Let us also remind you that wealth comes with great responsibility. Those who are entrusted with much are called to be generous, wise stewards of God’s resources. Proverbs 11:28 warns, "He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf." If God blesses you with abundance, it is not for hoarding but for blessing others and advancing His kingdom. The parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) teaches us that God expects us to use what He gives us for His glory, not our own.
Now, let us pray together for wisdom and discernment in this matter:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will above all else. Lord, You know the desires of this heart—desires for provision, comfort, and the ability to enjoy the blessings You give. We ask that You would purify these desires and align them with Your purposes. Father, if it is Your will for this one to prosper, we pray that You would open doors of opportunity and grant wisdom to steward resources well. But if the pursuit of wealth would lead away from You, we ask that You would redirect this heart toward contentment and trust in Your provision.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of greed, envy, or discontentment that may be lurking in this desire. We declare that this one’s worth is found in You alone, not in earthly possessions. Help them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added (Matthew 6:33). Teach them to be content in every circumstance, whether in abundance or in need, knowing that You are their provider.
Father, if You choose to bless this one with wealth, we pray that You would guard their heart against the dangers of riches. May they always remember that their treasure is in heaven, and may they use what You give them to bless others and advance Your kingdom. Give them a spirit of generosity, wisdom, and discernment in all financial matters.
Above all, Lord, we pray that this one would never lose sight of the greatest treasure—Jesus Christ. May their love for You grow deeper than any love for the things of this world. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can approach You and be saved. Amen.
We encourage you to seek God’s will through prayer and Scripture, asking Him to reveal any areas where your desires may not align with His. Consider fasting from the pursuit of wealth for a time to seek His face and listen for His voice. Surround yourself with godly counsel—those who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. And remember, true prosperity is not measured by what you own but by the depth of your relationship with Christ. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today, for He is the only source of true fulfillment and eternal riches.
