Is being a deadbeat a sin?

I've heard about many others having this problem,and lately I experienced it a few times too. People who, ask for money from you, a presumed "loan", swear by everything they'll pay you back by a certain agreed upon time, then when the time comes, usually don't,or if you remind them, might give you a part payment, then borrow more alittle later, an amount that overrides the part payment.There seems to be an epidemic of this going around,like some worldly trend or something.It's like, everyone thinks it's "cool" to borrow, but when it's time to pay all of a sudden they're hard to find.Is this a sin? I would say on a few fronts. First , dishonesty.They shouldn't make an agreement with someone if they have no intention of keeping it. Besides, something you do to hurt another is a sin, and if the person was counting on the money back by a certain date, and they don't have it because the person "stiffed" them, their unreliability affected someone else. Also, it's disrespectful of the other person, they gain their trust enough to do it for them, instead of showing gratefulness and consideration for the favor, they spit on them by not keeping their word, and letting the other person come up short the amount. So I would say, it's a sin,if they really had no intention of paying back, and said they would, it's a lie,and if they changed their mind once they got their hands on the money, it's still dishonesty. Would you say what they're doing is sinful?{It's also robbery, because they took something that wasn't theirs and didn't return it.}{Oh, also, when the agreed date comes, they "hide out", you have to chase after them for it,after they gave their word.}

Isn't this like the 10th or more times you have posted this type of post? Are you holding something against another? Do you think you are perfect and no one else is? Do you not realize that everything you are and everything you have belongs to Jesus? Does forgiveness of Jesus only belong to you that you don't have to share your forgiveness with anyone else?

I would say that the sin is also in the person loaning the money putting a burden on the other. Biblically we aren't to loan people money in a way that causes another a burden, we should give it to them if we have it to give, if they decide to pay us back fine, if they don't pay us back are we to not forgive them and still call it fine? No body knows what tomorrow has in store for them for tomorrow any one of us could leave this world. Is there anyone you would owe that you wouldn't be able to pay? Who would pay your bills for you if you were no longer here? Would you expect that person to suffer in Hell because they owed you a few dollars?

Did Jesus pay a price for you? Don't you feel like you owe Jesus your life? Why aren't you living your life according to the instructions you know?

Why not rather use loaning your money as a gift that they can pay you back or pay it back to Jesus by helping someone else or give it to church or a charity and use the time to teach someone how Jesus saves, calls etc?

I have been where you are trying to meet someone that owes me and having them not be there but I had to forgive them and learn to trust Jesus. If you truly put your trust in Jesus and do things according to His instructions, getting blessed by the rewards of doing those instructions than you wouldn't post your judgements of holding others accountable to you and they wouldn't hide from you.

We all have things to learn from Jesus and some of us take a little longer than others to learn from Him but that's the only reason we suffer! We suffer for a lack of knowledge! Not just any old knowledge but the knowledge it takes to not only hear that knowledge but also to do that knowledge :)

If you are giving like Jesus do you not believe Jesus will be giving to you? Every time I am giving to another, Jesus overly is giving it back to me but how did I learn that? I read it in the Bible and I decided to give it a try and then I learned that Jesus Instructions are true! :)

Might seem rather crazy to give up our lives to follow Jesus but didn't Jesus do that first? Didn't Jesus give up His life for us? Why can't we give up our life for Jesus?

If someone wants to have my money which actually belongs to Jesus than they are going to hear all about Jesus. They honestly don't bother me again about wanting to borrow money from me because they know they are going to have to listen to me share Jesus with them again and they don't really have time for that. Did they pay me back? No but they might have paid Jesus back and learned that Jesus gives to those that are giving :)

It doesn't matter what you think they are going to do with Jesus' money if you put the money between them and Jesus :)

I agree with tracycondon! The very Words of Jesus agrees with her Steven :)

Don't you like what she said?

Very nicely spoken Tracy! Thank you Lord Jesus for Tracy, bless her with all she needs in You and more so she can share You and share what You Bless her with in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!

NO, you're encouraging them more to do wrong by making them think there's nothing wrong with their actions.LYING is a sin, and at the Great White Throne Judgement, when the books are opened,you don't think the fact that they made an agreement and broke it will come up{I don't mean a legitimate reason, I mean if they know from the get go that they're not going to pay, but LIE and tell you they will?}Why are you defending a wrong action?You're taking a wrong action and making it sound right..When they hear that it only encourages them to do more wrong.What Jesus DID say is let your yes mean yes, and your no,no.If that doesn't mean that to them, then what is what they're doing?A GOOD thing in your eyes?Oh, and the other thing you conveniently forget--sometimes they use the money for bad purposes, like drugs, alchohol, etc.

No, I shouldn't lend them. That was my mistake, to be taken in by their stories.But I don't believe THEY'RE in the right for making promises they don't keep.Jesus said let your yes mean yes, and your no, no,.I don't like people saying things they don't mean.{them}

Steven, when something bad happens, just bless the other person and see in your spirit what can you do to protect yourself and improve your life, and what does the Bible says about that situation. Yes, its true what Brother James said about looking at the sin of others and concentrating on this is not good for our spirit, it makes us filthy, i dont feel good when i concentrate on others peoples sin. I try to get rid of it, because it robbs me of peace.
So the way out is: stop doing things the way you have done if it doesnt works. Step two: see what the word says or what your spirit says how to treat this situation in the future and then stick to it. Step three: bless those people when you are alone, try not to holde grudges towards them, but keep your healthy distance so that you dont fall into temptation again, until you will be free. They will see you are not a good PRAY so they will with time leave you alone. If you will be persistant and character. Thats how we should raise our children to. With our firm decision.
Also, you dont have to run after them and convince them that it is a sin, you will only have DISCUSSIONS with them which leads into strife or they will lie to you that they will not do it any more, its useless, but you pray for them to realize that it is not good, pray for them to be saved and to have their own source of income and to be honest to others etc...Cast that spirit out of your building, neighbourhood, city block wherever it is...this vampire blood sucking spirit....Dont talk to them so much, talk to God more...
Also i agree: i dont lend money to anyone unless i am giving to give that money totaly up (if you have love and joy in your heart to do this). So when the times of payement comes you will be even ready to bless them and to give them the money that they owe you, and they will maybe be gratefull and give thanks to God (i have experienced that). If not this is not your problem, they will have problem...God bless you Steven and may you grow in wisdom and understanding of relationships with others, with money and may you be rooted and grounded in love, amen.

One thing I do agree with is,I shouldn't let them "rope me in" in the first place.Besides money, in other categories,like I drive people and I've had where someone wants to make a stop when I'm tight for time,so they say if there's a line in the place,they'll come right out and do it at a different time.So what happens? They wait on the line anyway,it "comes out" that they did that.OR they say they won't complain if they have to wait a little for me because of other commitments,then they DO complain.Or I've had people say they'll keep in touch with me, then don't. I think it's the lying that bothers me the most.But you guys are right about one thing, I shouldn't be gullible enough to keep falling for it.However, that doesn't JUSTIFY their actions.

Before you loan someone money you have earned, fast and pray before the Lord. Ask Him to bless this person, help him to find a job and make sure they attend church services and give their life to Jesus. Singing in the choir for the glory of God to bless his or her life. If that money that was asked to be borrowed is for liquor, cigarrettes or drugs, do not give them. It is a sin to give money to those who are in chains with anything that is against God. So, remember what Jesus did. Healed ten lepers and one of them came to thank Him. Ask the Lord for healing of the finances. Do not spend on things that you do not need like jewelry, fancy clothes, expensive rent that you cannot afford. Remember. If you borrow money, repay as soon as possible.
