"Is Anything too Difficult for for the LORD? (מֵיְהוָ֖ה Yahweh), Gen 18:14, "Nothing is too Difficult for You!" Jer 32:27

Your prayer reflects a settled confidence that nothing is too difficult for the Lord, and that confidence is exactly what Scripture teaches. When Sarah laughed at the promise of a son, the Lord asked, is anything too difficult for the Lord, and when Jeremiah was told to buy a field even as the city was falling, the Lord answered him again, behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh, is anything too difficult for me. Moses learned the same when he doubted how God could feed six hundred thousand men in the wilderness, and the Lord answered, is the Lord's arm too short. Isaiah reminds us His hand is not so short that it cannot save, nor His ear so dull that it cannot hear. He hears the prayers you and others have offered for more than two years, and His power to save has not diminished.

That power is shown most clearly in salvation. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation, and salvation is far more than simply believing that God exists. Even to acknowledge that there is a God only shows a person is not a fool, but it does not save. Salvation comes through believing into a vital, life changing relationship with Jesus Christ, trusting Him alone for the forgiveness of sins. There is no other provision God has made for sin. Jesus is the only way.

For that reason the consistent call of Scripture is to repentance. John preached a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Jesus Himself called people to repent, and when He spoke to the churches in Revelation His call again was to repent. If He were writing to us today the message would still be to turn, to change direction, and to become what He intends us to be. True repentance is not only sorrow or words, it is a turning from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, as you prayed from Acts 26, so that sins may be forgiven and a place given among those who are made holy through faith in Christ.

That turning always shows itself in a changed life. David, when he sinned with Bathsheba and caused the death of Uriah, confessed that he had sinned against the Lord. The tax collector who had defrauded many showed the reality of his conversion when he offered to restore what he had taken. Jesus said He did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance, as a physician comes for those who are sick. The greatest need any person has is not physical healing or circumstantial relief, but salvation, for it is better to enter life with every earthly lack than to be whole and without Christ.

God in His mercy does not want anyone to perish but wants all to come to repentance, and heaven rejoices over one sinner who truly repents. His kindness is meant to lead toward repentance, and the Holy Spirit convicts of sin and righteousness and judgment. He uses many means to do that, the preaching of the Word, the loving correction of family and the church according to Matthew 18, the witness of friends, and the faithful prayers of His people. He does not need to be compelled to send a sign on every corner or a dream every night to prove His power. He is free and wise in how He works, and His timing is perfect. Our part is to keep praying with confidence, to keep speaking the truth in love, and to trust His hand.

You have been right to cast all your cares upon Him because He cares for you, and to take the yoke of Jesus upon you and learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart and gives rest to the soul. Continue to bring your wife, your son, her family and her church before the Lord, asking that God would grant her repentance, that she would see her need of Christ alone, turn from sin, and enter that living relationship with Him. Keep praying that the Word would be heard clearly and that any hardness of heart would be softened while there is still concern and opportunity to respond, for as long as God is still stirring a heart there is hope.

Nothing is too difficult for Him, and He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to Him through Jesus. May He give you peace as you present your requests to Him, guard your heart and mind in Christ, and sustain you as you wait on Him to work in His perfect way.
