Intrusive thoughts

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am obsessed with someone and can get them out of my head, please pray so I can think straight and never think of them. In Jesus name I pray amen

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting this burden to the Lord who alone can bring true peace to your mind and heart. Intrusive thoughts can be overwhelming, especially when they consume your focus and disrupt your peace. We recognize the struggle you’re facing, and we rebuke these obsessive thoughts in the name of Jesus Christ, for they do not align with the freedom and clarity He offers. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life—and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that your mind is not your own to be tormented; it belongs to Christ, who has set you free.

First, we must address the nature of this obsession. If this person is not your spouse or someone you are courting with the godly intention of marriage, these thoughts are not pleasing to the Lord. The Bible warns us to guard our hearts, for everything we do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23). Obsession over someone outside of a biblical marriage or courtship can lead to emotional entanglement, which the Lord calls us to avoid. If this person is not a believer or if pursuing a relationship with them would lead you away from God’s will, we must surrender this attachment to the Lord and ask Him to remove it completely. If this is someone you are not married to or not in a godly courtship with, we rebuke the ungodly soul tie that may have formed and command it to break in Jesus’ name.

Scripture tells us to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). This means actively replacing these intrusive thoughts with the truth of God’s Word. When the enemy brings this person to your mind, we encourage you to immediately shift your focus to prayer, worship, or Scripture. Meditate on verses like Philippians 4:8, which says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Fill your mind with the things of God, and He will crowd out the things that do not belong.

We also recognize that obsession can stem from a deeper longing—for love, acceptance, or companionship. If this is the case, we encourage you to bring that longing to the Lord, who is the only One who can truly satisfy your heart. Psalm 107:9 says, "For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things." Seek your fulfillment in Christ alone, and He will direct your steps toward His perfect will for your life.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is struggling with intrusive and obsessive thoughts. Lord, we ask that You would break the power of these thoughts in their mind and set them free from this bondage. We rebuke the enemy’s lies and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we ask that You would fill their mind with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to take every thought captive and to replace these obsessions with Your truth.

Lord, if this obsession is not in alignment with Your will, we ask that You would remove it completely. Give them the strength to surrender this person to You and to trust in Your plan for their life. If this is someone they are not meant to be with, we pray that You would sever any ungodly soul ties and heal their heart from this attachment. Father, we ask that You would satisfy their soul with Your love and fill them with Your presence, so they no longer seek fulfillment in anything or anyone else.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment. Show them, Lord, if there is any sin or ungodly desire in their heart that needs to be confessed and repented of. Cleanse them with the blood of Jesus and renew their mind according to Your Word. Help them to walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them (Galatians 5:1).

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). We trust that as they seek You with their whole heart, they will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). Strengthen them, Lord, and help them to stand firm in their faith. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture and prayer daily. Surround yourself with godly community—believers who can hold you accountable and speak truth into your life. If these thoughts persist, consider speaking with a trusted pastor or biblical counselor who can help you walk through this struggle with wisdom and discernment. Remember, you are not alone in this battle. The Lord is with you, and He is fighting for you. Stand firm in His promises, and He will lead you into freedom.

We're here with you, friend, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this struggle. We've all faced intrusive thoughts that seem to consume our minds, and it can feel overwhelming. But remember, God promises to be with us in every situation, and He's given us the power to overcome these challenges through His Son, Jesus Christ.

First, let's acknowledge that these thoughts might be a form of distraction or temptation, trying to draw your focus away from God and onto something or someone else. The Bible tells us to fix our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2), and when these thoughts come, let's make a conscious effort to refocus our minds on Him.

We encourage you to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). When this person comes to mind, immediately shift your focus to prayer, worship, or reading Scripture. Meditate on verses like Philippians 4:8, which reminds us to think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Fill your mind with God's Word, and He will help crowd out the things that don't belong.

Also, consider the root cause of these obsessions. If this person is not your spouse or someone you're pursuing with the intention of marriage, and if pursuing them would lead you away from God's will, we need to surrender this attachment to the Lord and ask Him to remove it completely. If there's an ungodly soul tie that's formed, we can break it in Jesus' name.

Lastly, let's pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You on behalf of our friend who's struggling with intrusive and obsessive thoughts. Lord, we ask that You would break the power of these thoughts in their mind and set them free from this bondage. Help them to take every thought captive and replace these obsessions with Your truth. If this obsession is not in alignment with Your will, we ask that You would remove it completely. Give them the strength to surrender this person to You and trust in Your plan for their life. Fill their mind with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here for you, and we believe that God will give you the strength and wisdom to overcome this challenge. Keep seeking Him, and remember that He's fighting for you. You're not alone in this battle.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
