Heavenly Father, In You alone we take our refuge. When the voices around us whisper to our souls, "Flee like a bird to your mountain," and when fear tells us to scatter and hide from the shadows, remind us of where our true safety lies. We stand together, anchored in You. Lord, it often feels like the foundations of our world are shaking, crumbling beneath our feet. When justice seems distant and the upright are targeted in the dark, our hearts collectively ask: What can the righteous do? In those moments of doubt, point our eyes upward as one body. You are still in Your holy temple. Your throne is still secure in the heavens. Nothing catches You by surprise; Your eyes see everything, and Your gaze searches every human heart. We trust Your refining fire. Test our hearts, purge our collective fears, and strengthen our resolve. Keep us from seeking shelter in the fleeting, divided fortresses of this world, and let us stand united and firm in Your truth. For You are righteous, Lord, and and you love justice. Grant us the grace to walk uprightly together today, encouraging one another, knowing that those who seek You will ultimately behold Your face. In Jesus Mighty name, Amen.

We join our hearts with yours in this beautiful prayer inspired by Psalm 11, lifting our voices together in worship and devotion. Let us examine our hearts together, beloved. Are we tempted to flee to false refuges - political ideologies, worldly comforts, or human wisdom - when storms arise? The psalmist warns against trusting in what cannot save. Instead, we must build our lives on Christ, the solid Rock, remembering that "the Lord loves righteousness and doesn't abandon His faithful ones" (Psalm 37:28 WEB).

We pray with you now: Heavenly Father, in this hour of global shaking, we declare that our feet stand on Your unchanging Word. When voices cry "Flee!" we choose to stand firm in You. Purify our hearts from fear and unbelief, testing us as gold is refined in fire. Unite us in Your truth, that we may walk uprightly together, encouraging one another in love and good works. May Your justice roll down like waters, and Your righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Strengthen us to be salt and light in a darkening world, pointing others to the hope found only in Jesus Christ. For You are coming soon, and we long to behold Your face. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Let us hold fast to this promise: "The Lord is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see His face" (Psalm 11:7 WEB). As we walk through these challenging days, may we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, encouraging one another daily lest any be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. The world offers many false refuges, but only in Christ do we find true safety and peace.

How fitting that you have turned to the eleventh Psalm. The cry, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” has trembled on many a faithful lip in these evil days. Yet mark this: there are foundations which no hand of man or devil can ever remove. The spiritual foundations God has laid in Zion stand firm forever, His eternal purpose, the finished work of Christ, the covenant of grace. When all around gives way, the righteous may do this: “Trust in God and do the right.” Our safety lies not in fleeing to the mountains of man’s devising, but in taking refuge in the Divine appointment. Christ is the true City of Refuge, and no curse can touch the one who flees to Him.

You have felt the earth reel and the shadows gather, and you have done well to lift your eyes to the throne. There is a Sovereign hand in all this, a Father’s hand. Nothing befalls you but what that Sovereignty ordains, overrules, and shall sanctify. What if the foundations of earthly governments, commerce, and human trust are shaken? These are but man’s scaffoldings, and their trembling may drive us more completely upon the Rock of Ages. The Lord is in His holy temple still; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the children of men. And what is that testing but a refining fire? He purges away our dross, our self-trust, our proud reliance on the props of a world that is passing away.

You have prayed for grace to walk uprightly together, and that is the very work of God in the heart. Do not wait for some feeling to assure you before you trust Him. Trust Him for the very thing you lack. If you feel yourself sinking, trust and you shall swim. The faith that clings to Jesus when senses and feelings fail is the fruit of omnipotent grace already at work within you. Encourage one another with this: the Lord loves justice, and the upright shall behold His face. Let the winds howl and the foundations of this present evil world give way, our foundation is laid in the eternal counsels of the Godhead, and it shall never be moved. Stand upon it, help a comrade to find his footing, and let your collective voice sing in the dark, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.”

Your prayer rises like a fragrant offering, a true cry of souls that refuse to scatter. The whisper to "flee like a bird" is an old temptation, one that comes whenever the foundations of this age groan and crack. But look: the Lord's throne does not totter. His eye searches every heart, and no shadow hides the upright from His sight. You ask, "What can the righteous do?" This is what they do. They stand. They lift their gaze from crumbling walls to the temple not made by hands. They submit to the refining fire, not as a punishment but as a mercy that burns away fear and leaves resolve shining like gold.

But do not think that trust in God is a couch for idleness. The grace of baptism and the gift of faith are His; the daily purity, the steady walk, the deeds that adorn the soul, these He asks from you with the earnestness of free will. Stand united, you say. Then bear one another's failings without harsh scrutiny. A building does not demand its foundation stones to serve as cornerstones. Each member of the body supplies what the whole needs, and patience knits the Church together more tightly than any worldly fortress.

Let no one slumber while forgetfulness eats the soul like a moth. Open the Scriptures. Look continually upon the image of virtue; acquaint yourselves with her head and her members. And when the justice of God seems delayed, do not demand that it answer to human reasonings. In every market, in every household, a court sits and calls men to account; shall not the Judge of all do right? The righteous are not abandoned, though the wicked seem to flourish for a time. Those who seek with forwardness and zeal receive abundance; the careless lose even what they seem to have. So walk uprightly together, encouraging one another, and let your lives be the answer to your own prayer. He who tests hearts is faithful. You will behold His face.

Your prayer rises from the very place where faith becomes real. When the foundations tremble and voices whisper that it is time to scatter, you have done what the psalmist did. You have lifted your eyes higher.

The question that echoes through your request is one every sincere heart asks when the darkness seems to gain ground: what can the righteous do? The answer begins by understanding that God has not abandoned His throne. His eyes do indeed see everything. But what He sees and what He allows is never random. Think of what fire does. It does not treat all things the same way. Cast a piece of wood into the flame, and it is reduced to ash. That same fire applied to gold or steel burns away what is impure, removing the dross and forging what remains into something permanent and unbreakable.

You do not need to pray that God would keep you from the fire entirely. The fire is present simply because He is present. A better prayer, which you have already begun, is to ask what the fire is doing in you. Is it consuming the things that cannot last? The fears, the allegiances to temporary fortresses, the dross of self-reliance? If you belong to Jesus Christ, the fire is your refiner, not your destroyer. It purges collective fear. It burns away anxiety about crumbling worldly structures. It tempers resolve and transmits a faith into permanency that will endure when everything else is gone.

When you ask what the righteous can do, you answer it by where you seek your refuge. The world offers flimsy shelters that promise safety but perish in the heat. God alone is the true place of refuge, the secure city you flee to. This is not a flight of cowardice or panic like a scared bird heading for the hills. It is an active, deliberate return to the stronghold of His character. He is our shield. And when you take shelter in Him, you discover that the fear which causes wicked men to be driven away is replaced by something entirely different in you. The fear of the Lord is not a cringing phobia. It is a fountain of life, the beginning of wisdom, and the source of strong confidence for your soul.

You stand together, anchored in Him. The righteous will not be removed forever. They may be shaken for a time, but the tent of the upright will flourish because its root is in something the world cannot erode. The hope of the righteous is not a wish. It is gladness anchored to a certainty. When you walk uprightly together, encouraging one another with words that tend toward life, you are participating in that refining work. God knows how to deliver the righteous. The same consuming fire that will one day spell destruction for all that is opposed to Him is, right now, your very present help in trouble.
