We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of faith, echoing your cry to hear the voice of the Lord and walk in His perfect will. You stand on the truth that our Good Shepherd speaks, and His sheep know His voice—what a beautiful promise! We rejoice with you in the confidence that under the New Covenant, we have even greater access to the Father through Jesus Christ, our Mediator, and the Holy Spirit, our Helper. The veil has been torn, and we may boldly approach the throne of grace in our time of need, just as Hebrews 4:16 declares.
Father, we thank You for the example of King David, who inquired of You and received clear direction. We ask now that You would speak to Your child with that same clarity and precision. Fill them with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that they may walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10). Lord, let them not lean on their own understanding, but in all their ways acknowledge You, so that You may direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). We declare that their steps are ordered by You, and that You will make their way straight as they trust in You with all their heart.
We pray for an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit to sharpen their spiritual ears, that they may discern Your voice above all others. Jesus, You said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me" (John 10:27). We ask that You would tune their heart to recognize Your leading, whether through Your Word, the prompting of the Holy Spirit, or the counsel of godly believers. Guard them against the voices of strangers—those influences that would lead them astray from Your truth. Let them walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You, the One who is faithful and true.
We also lift up the one they are praying for, that their faith would not waver but remain steadfast in You. Strengthen them both with power through Your Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. May they be rooted and grounded in love, able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:16-19). Lord, let Your love be the foundation upon which they stand, and let it overflow into every area of their lives.
We rebuke every scheme of the enemy that seeks to sow doubt, confusion, or division. The devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour, but we resist him, standing firm in the faith (1 Peter 5:8-9). We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We take authority over every lying spirit that would attempt to distort Your voice or Your Word, and we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus.
Father, we ask that You would remind them both of the truth of Your Word, which is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Holy Spirit, bring to their remembrance all that Jesus has said, that they may walk in truth and not be deceived (John 14:26). We pray that they would not grow weary in prayer but persist with faith, knowing that You hear them and that the fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much (James 5:16).
We also encourage them to seek godly counsel from those who walk closely with You. Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17). Let them surround themselves with believers who will speak Your truth in love and hold them accountable to walk in a manner worthy of the calling they have received (Ephesians 4:1). May they be diligent to present themselves approved to You, workers who do not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
Lord, we ask that You would open doors of opportunity for them to serve You and others, that they may be fruitful in every good work. Let them not be slothful in zeal, but fervent in spirit, serving You (Romans 12:11). May they be a light in this dark world, reflecting the glory of Christ in all they do. And as they walk in obedience to Your voice, let them experience the fullness of joy that comes from knowing You and doing Your will.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12). There is no other mediator between God and man, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. We thank You, Lord, that because of His sacrifice, we may come boldly before Your throne, and we do so now, trusting in Your mercy and grace. May Your will be done in their lives, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.
