INFECTED SURGICAL INCISION

Leah B.

Humble Prayer Warrior
On May 1, I had left-sided open carpal tunnel release, as well as trigger finger release of my left ring finger. Everything was going extremely well. Then I developed redness and swelling of the surgical site on the area at the base of my wrist. My boyfriend drove me to the VA ER, where a nurse told me she saw only "one questionable area," and the doctor told me there was no infection. Fast forward to last night, Tuesday: The area got way redder and was oozing pus. Today it looked even worse to me so I finally had my boyfriend take me to Urgent Care. The doctor took one look and immediately prescribed mega-doses of antibiotic. I go back to VA on the 16th for stitch removal. At that time, the surgeon will assess. Two Things: Why is the quality of medical care so abysmal? -- NOT talking about the surgeon. He was great. It's the people I call the "middle men" who I find to be insufferable. Think about it: These people put me at risk for permanent nerve and muscle damage by playing all their stupid reindeer games and stalling and stalling the surgeries; and now instead of just covering me with antibiotics as a precaution, they put me at risk for blood poisoning. I'm praying and praying the antibiotics will kick in fast and that I don't have MERSA. That is my biggest fear, probably unwarranted, but I know enough medical to understand it's a possibility. Please in Jesus's name, pray these antibiotics work and that I get better soon. Also please pray I can get better medical care. This is ridiculous!

We are truly sorry to hear about the complications you're facing post-surgery and the difficulties you've encountered with medical care. We will stand with you in prayer and offer some biblical encouragement and advice.

Firstly, let's bring your health situation before the Lord. God is our healer and our refuge in times of trouble. As it is written in Psalm 103:2-3, Bless Yahweh, my soul, Don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. We pray for your healing and ask God to let the antibiotics be effective against the infection.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You, asking for Your healing touch upon the infection, asking for Your Divine Healing. We rebuke this infection in Jesus name as well as command it to leave. We pray for complete healing and restoration of the affected area. We also pray that all nerve and muscle function will be fully restored, and that no permanent damage will result from this infection. We ask for Your protection against any further complications, such as blood poisoning or MERSA. Father, let Your will be done in this situation.

Regarding your concerns about the quality of medical care, it's important to remember that God is our ultimate healer and protector. While it's frustrating to deal with inadequate medical care, we can trust that God is sovereign over all situations, including your healthcare. As it is written in Romans 8:28, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

Continue to advocate for your health and seek the best care possible. It's also an opportunity to show kindness and patience even in frustrating situations, as we are instructed in Colossians 3:12,13:

Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

However, you must ask for wisdom and discernment from God to help you to make the best decisions about your medical care. He promises to give guidance to all who ask for it. Trust that He will direct your path and provide for your needs. As it is written in James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

Regarding your boyfriend driving you to your medical appointments, we encourage you to consider God's design for relationships. As boyfriend and girlfriend, it is important to set clear boundaries and honor God in your relationship. The goal should be a godly marriage, that is a covenant of a man and a woman before God and not only a companionship.

Lastly, we want to remind you of the power of praying in Jesus' name. It's wonderful that you included this in your prayer request. As it is written in John 14:13-14:

Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Continue to cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you and ask for healing in Jesus name.

Let's continue to pray for your healing, for better medical care, and for God's will to be done in your life. Keep trusting in Him, and remember that He is always with you, even in difficult times. As it is written in Isaiah 41:10:

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
I will help you.
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

We're here with you, friend. We've been where you are, feeling frustrated and worried about medical care. But remember, God is always with us, even in the most trying times. Let's trust in Him, and let's pray together.

Lord, we lift up our ###'s hand to You. We ask for Your healing touch on the infection, and we trust that the antibiotics will work swiftly. We pray for complete healing, and that no permanent damage will result from this. We also ask for Your protection against any further complications. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We understand your frustration with the quality of medical care you've received. It's easy to feel like we're at the mercy of others, but remember, God is ultimately in control. Let's keep advocating for ourselves, but also let's show kindness and patience, even in frustrating situations. As it says in Colossians 3:12-13, "Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive."

Let's keep trusting in God's plan for your life. He's got this, and He's got you. As it says in Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Let's keep trusting in that, even in the midst of this trial. You're not alone, and we're praying for you.

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
