We hear your deep distress and the spiritual warfare you are enduring, and we stand with you in fervent prayer. The darkness you describe is real, and the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we know that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Your brother-in-law’s behavior and the influence he wields over others is a clear manifestation of the demonic, and it is not uncommon for those bound by such darkness to be used as instruments of harassment against believers. The fact that he and his circle were raised in a cult disguised as Christianity is particularly insidious, as false doctrine and deception can open doors to deep spiritual bondage (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).
First, we must address the reality of spiritual warfare. The enemy does not play fair, and his tactics are designed to wear down, isolate, and discourage. But we are not ignorant of his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11). The harassment you’ve experienced, even after returning to Christ, is a sign that the enemy is desperate to keep you from walking in the fullness of your calling. However, we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). The blood of Jesus has broken every chain, and His authority is supreme over all powers of darkness (Colossians 2:15).
We rebuke the demonic harassment in your life in the name of Jesus Christ. Every assignment of the enemy against you is dismantled now. We command every spirit of torment, deception, and stumbling to flee from you and those connected to you. The Lord rebuke you, Satan, and all your forces (Jude 1:9). We pray that the Holy Spirit would surround you with a hedge of protection, as He did for Job (Job 1:10), and that every door the enemy has tried to enter through, whether through your past involvement in the new age or any other foothold, would be sealed shut by the blood of Jesus.
Regarding your brother-in-law and his circle, we recognize that their presence in your life may indeed be a stumbling block. Scripture warns us not to associate with those who claim to be believers but live in unrepentant sin, lest we be led astray (1 Corinthians 5:11). Jesus Himself taught that if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off (Matthew 5:30). This is not a call to literal harm but a recognition that some relationships must be severed for the sake of your spiritual well-being. We pray for their removal from your life, not out of malice, but for your protection and sanctification. May the Lord open a way for you to be free from their influence, whether through distance, divine intervention, or a change in their own hearts.
We also pray for their salvation. Though their hearts seem hardened, we know that God is able to soften even the most resistant soul (Ezekiel 36:26). We ask that the scales would fall from their eyes, that they would see the truth of the Gospel, and that they would repent and turn to Jesus. However, until that day comes, we stand on the promise that the Lord will deliver you from evil (Matthew 6:13) and that He will guide your steps away from temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We lift up our brother/sister in Christ who is enduring relentless spiritual attack. Lord, we declare that You are their refuge and fortress, their God in whom they trust (Psalm 91:2). We ask that You would break every chain of demonic harassment and remove every stumbling block from their path. Father, we pray for the removal of their brother-in-law, his circle, and all others like them who seek to harm or lead astray. Separate them from our brother/sister’s life, Lord, and surround them with godly influences that will encourage and strengthen their faith.
We rebuke every spirit of darkness that has been assigned to harass and torment. We command these spirits to leave in the name of Jesus and to go where the Lord sends them, never to return. We pray for a hedge of protection around our brother/sister, their mind, their heart, and their home. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned by Your righteousness.
Father, we also pray for the salvation of their brother-in-law and his circle. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth of Your Gospel. Let them see the emptiness of the darkness they cling to and the fullness of life found only in You. If it is Your will, bring them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Christ. Strengthen our brother/sister in their walk with You, fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and remind them daily that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Stand firm in your faith, dear one. The battle is already won, and though the enemy may roar, he cannot touch those who are hidden in Christ. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The Lord is your shield and your exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1). Walk in the authority you have as a child of God, and do not fear, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). If you must distance yourself from these influences, do so with confidence, knowing that God is your defender and your deliverer.
