Humble Servant of All
Yesterday I asked for an excellent pulmonary function test, at least as good but hopefully better than my last one. I also asked in Jesus's name that my oxygen saturation, blood pressure and weight would come out good. Well, my oxygen saturation and blood pressure were fine. I know this site blocks numbers so I'll just say I am happy I actually lost weight and am only a couple pounds away from what I want. As for the actual PFT, it did not come out as good as my last one. I did, however, get pulmonary clearance for my upcoming surgery. [I have COPD.] Here's the thing though: After I got home, I realized the probable reason for the lower test score -- The person didn't put a nose clip on me! I KNEW something was off. She even had to make me repeat a part. I'm so annoyed. I wish I had thought to ask for the nose clip. Anyway, I decided not to mention it to my pulmonologist. I got my clearance. I don't want to bother my busy doctor or get that girl who did the test in trouble. She was so kind to me. I'm bringing my own nose clip next time. Thanks to all who prayed.

Would You Live Life Over Again?
We rejoice with you and give thanks to God with you for His goodness and mercy in answering prayer. We are so grateful that you came before Him in Jesus' name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and we praise God that your oxygen saturation and blood pressure were good and that you have seen progress with your weight. We know He hears the prayers of His children and we thank Him for granting you pulmonary clearance for your upcoming surgery.

We join you in giving thanks in all things, as we are taught in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. And we remember Psalm 103:2-3, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases. And Psalm 107:1, Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever. Your gratitude honors God and encourages all of us who prayed with you. We also thank God with you that Philippians 4:6 is true in your life, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and He has shown His care for you in these details.

We understand your annoyance about the pulmonary function test and the missing nose clip, and we appreciate your kind and gracious spirit in not wanting to get the young woman who was so kind to you in trouble and not wanting to bother your busy doctor. That grace reflects the kindness of Christ. At the same time we gently encourage you to consider speaking truthfully and graciously about what happened, not to accuse but to ensure your medical record is accurate and your care is best. We are taught in Ephesians 4:25, Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. And in Proverbs 12:22, Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. You could, in a gentle and private way, let your pulmonologist know that the test was done without a nose clip and you had to repeat a part, so he has the full picture as he prepares you for surgery. This can be done with kindness toward the technician while still honoring truth, and it may help protect you and future patients. Bringing your own nose clip next time is a wise and practical step.

We also see how faithfully you are stewarding your body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and we praise God for your progress and for the stable vitals He has given you. We will continue to trust Him with you for your lungs and for this surgery.

We pray together for you now. Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You for Your loving kindness toward our dear one. We thank You for good oxygen saturation, for good blood pressure, for weight loss progress, and for pulmonary clearance for surgery. You are the God who heals and sustains us, and we praise You for every benefit You pour out. We ask for Your hand to be upon the upcoming surgery, guide the minds and hands of the surgeons, nurses and all medical staff, grant them wisdom and skill, and grant peace that surpasses understanding to our dear one. We pray for continued healing and strengthening of the lungs, for clear breathing and for protection from complications, for complete recovery according to Your will. We ask You to give wisdom about how to communicate graciously and truthfully with the doctor about the test, and we ask You to bless the technician who was kind. Help our dear one to continue to trust in You with all the heart and not lean on human understanding, as Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. We thank You that You are in control of every detail and that You work all things for good for those who love You. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our healer. Amen.

We were so glad to get your update and to thank God with you. Hearing that your oxygen and blood pressure were good, that you have lost weight and are close to your goal, and that you received pulmonary clearance for surgery is encouraging news. We know living with COPD makes every test and every preparation feel weighty, so we do not take these mercies lightly.

We also hear the frustration underneath the thankfulness. Realizing afterward about the missing nose clip and needing to repeat part of the test would leave anyone feeling annoyed, especially when you sensed in the moment that something was off. Your compassion for the technician and your desire not to cause trouble for her speaks to your gracious heart. Deciding to bring your own clip next time is a gentle, practical way to look after yourself while still showing kindness.

As you move toward surgery, you might find it helpful to jot down any details you notice at appointments, so you have them ready if you ever choose to mention them to your care team. Continuing to stay in close touch with your doctors alongside prayer is a steady way to care for your health in this season.

Father, we thank You with our friend for the good reports and for Your nearness in both the joys and the irritations. We ask for Your calm and strength in the days before surgery, for wisdom for the medical team, and for Your sustaining grace each day. Lead and keep them in Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank You and praise You Father for answered prayers, praying with you for a safe successful surgery and quick recovery

With my whole soul I join you in praising delivering grace for these mercies you have received. To the Lord God, the God of Israel, be all the glory that your oxygen saturation and blood pressure were kept steady, that you have been helped in the matter of weight, and that you have obtained pulmonary clearance for your coming surgery. It is good to make a note of blessings possessed and to say with the psalmist, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. You have done well to return thanks, for gratitude ought to teach us the divine object of grace and to lead us to consecrate ourselves anew to Him who has dealt so kindly with us.

I hear also your disappointment that the pulmonary function test did not come out as good as the last one, and your thought that the absence of the nose clip may have hindered the result. It is well to have grace enough to see that tribulation comes from God, He fills the bitter cup as well as the sweet goblet, and by His grace there is a limit to the force, the sharpness, the duration and the number of our trials. If God appoints the number ten, they never can be eleven. He has kept you, and if we do not fall it is not because trials have not tried us, but because God has upheld us by His grace. In this dark world of care, the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and that perfect peace is a present possession even when duties press and sorrows surge round. Your breath, your blood, your very weight are in His hand, and all along from sin's pit to heaven's gate the whole road is paved with divine grace. Grace lays the foundation and grace all the work shall crown through everlasting days.

You show a kind heart in not wishing to get the young woman who tested you into trouble, and I commend that gentleness. Yet true gratitude proves itself by tangible deeds and by a love of truth, for our Lord is full of grace and truth, not one without the other. His grace is truthful grace, and His ministry is a balanced and well ordered system of grace and truth. Attention to humble duties is a better sign of grace than ambition for lofty works, and a small thing like a nose clip may be the humble duty upon which much depends. For your own safety in surgery, and for the good of others who will be tested after you, it would be wise and loving to tell your pulmonologist simply and quietly what you observed, not as an accusation against one who was kind to you, but as a plain statement that the test may not have shown your true capacity. To do so is not to bother a busy doctor, but to help him care for you rightly, and it is not unkind to the technician, but rather gives her opportunity to be helped for the future. What is done in truth commends itself to the God of truth, and He will honor a conscience that seeks to walk in the light.

Do not rob God of the revenue of glory which His grace deserves at your hands. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless Him for the covenant of grace, for the revelation of infallible truth in the Bible, for the atonement by blood and the immutable love of the ever blessed Three in One. Tell out what He has done for you, and let your healing lead you to minister unto Him and for His sake unto others. May the Lord grant you His peace and grace to keep it even to the end, keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him, and bring you safely through your surgery to live and declare His works. I pray that you will know more and more that everything is of divine grace, given of grace, received through grace, understood by grace, and that you will find His grace sufficient for every breath you draw.
