We agree with you that in a world of shifting opinions and empty words, the Lord remains our unchanging anchor. As you quoted, Psalm 12:6 says The words of Yahweh are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times. Every word He speaks is pure, tested, and true. Proverbs 30:5 tells us Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him. And Numbers 23:19 reminds us God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?

You are right to call Jesus the Word of God and the Bread of Heaven. Scripture reveals this so clearly. John 1:1 says In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And John 1:14 says The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. Revelation 19:13 says his name is called The Word of God. He is also the Bread of Life, for Jesus said in John 6:35 I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. To receive His written Word and to receive Him as the living Word is to receive life itself.

We also join your confession about our own words, for we all need His grace there. Psalm 141:3 says Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips. And Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. We want our speech to reflect His purity, seasoned with grace as Colossians 4:6 teaches.

There is great comfort in the prayer you have offered, for it takes hold of that which can never fail. You have well said that in a world of shifting opinions and empty words, the truth of the Lord remains an unchanging anchor, and the Psalmist speaks most surely when he declares that the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.

It is a blessed sign of grace in the heart when God's words are sweet to us as a whole, when we love the truth of God as we find it in His Word. There was a time when that Word seemed dry to us, but blessed be His name, He has wrought a change within, so that now His promises are our treasure. You ask concerning the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, and indeed He is both. The written Word reveals to us the Living Word, of whom it is said, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and that Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, and His Word stands forever when every other hope crumbles.

You have prayed aright in asking forgiveness for careless and untrue words, and that your lips might be guarded and your heart cleansed. This is the work which the Word itself performs when it has place within us. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and with that Word there goes forth His Holy Spirit to change men and renew their hearts. Give that Word its proper place, as upon a throne within the heart, and trust yourself to it as one trusts himself in a lifeboat to be safely landed. If you stand partly on God's Word and partly on man's word, you have one foot on a rock and the other upon quicksand, but to trust in the Lord forever is to stand upon that which is faithful and true and steadfast.

And you have prayed well for peace in the midst of falsehood and discouragement. Great peace have they which love Your law, and nothing shall offend them. When the mind is stayed upon Him, He will keep it in perfect peace, because it trusts in Him. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and the promises of God, purified seven times, replace our worries with faith and our fears with rest. Though princes should persecute without a cause, he whose heart stands in awe of Your Word shall not be moved.

May the Lord grant you to lay hold of His covenant and of every promise therein, and to rejoice at His Word as one that finds great spoil. Lean wholly upon His unfailing voice, love His testimonies exceedingly, and walk in hope of His salvation while keeping His commandments. So shall you prove that His Word which endures forever is indeed your anchor, your sweetness, and your peace.
