Disciple of Prayer
We thank God with you for this answered prayer for improved face to face time, even through video. That longing for face to face fellowship is the heart ### expressed, that joy may be made full when we are truly present with one another, and we rejoice that after four months the Lord has opened this door. It is right to give Him thanks, for He does work miracles, and He hears the prayers of His people.
We join you in asking that Christ would dwell richly in your heart through faith, that being rooted and grounded in love you would know more of His love that passes knowledge and be filled with His fullness. It is out of that indwelling that love overflows to a wife and to a child, and that you are given grace and wisdom for the calling in Ephesians 6 and Deuteronomy 6, to bring up your child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, teaching the word diligently as you walk and sit and lie down and rise up.
God has shown His providential care in how He overrules in the affairs of people to protect His own. As with Joseph, what others meant for evil, God is able to turn for good. You are His child, and He watches over you and over your little one. Do not try to help God by hurrying His purposes in your own strength, as Sarah did when she offered her maid to hasten the promise. Wait on Him, for His timing is perfect and His purposes for you as His child are good. He will work in His way.
We pray with you for your wife, that the Father who alone can draw a heart to Jesus would draw her, and that the Holy Spirit would convict of sin and of righteousness and of judgment. The prophet spoke of hedging a way with thorns to turn a wandering heart back, and we pray that the Lord in mercy would block paths that lead to sin and to destruction and would turn her heart toward repentance and salvation. It is not His will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, and salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. We pray for a work of grace that leads to genuine repentance and to faith in Him, and for a restored communication that is honest and pure and kind, the kind of good that a faithful wife seeks to do for her husband all her days, and that marriage would be honored as God designed it, where a man leaves father and mother and cleaves to his wife and the two become one flesh, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where intimacy belongs.
We also pray for your child with you. Jesus set a little child in the midst and taught that we must be converted and become as little children, humble and trusting, and that whoever receives one such little child in His name receives Him. It is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should perish, and their angels behold His face. We ask the Holy Father to keep your child through His own name, as Jesus prayed, to guard him by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed, to fill him with the Holy Spirit, to make him wise unto salvation through the Scriptures from his earliest years, and to keep him from the evil one, for greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. We pray he would learn to honor both father and mother as the commandment promises, and that he would early learn to pray not by rote but from the heart, pouring out his heart to God in his own words.
In your weakness, boast gladly as the apostle did, that the power of Christ may rest upon you, for when you are weak then He is strong. Your help comes from the Maker of heaven and earth. He gives His angels charge over His children, and there are more with those who trust Him than with those against them. We ask the Father to keep you from deception and temptation, to deliver you from the lies and wickedness of the present age and from the evil one, and to guard your household and all who influence your family from being led astray by a form of godliness without its power.
We come directly to the Father in the name of Jesus, for the Father Himself loves you because you have loved Jesus and believed that He came from God. We have this confidence that He hears us when we ask according to His will. May He grant improved, consistent, and gracious communication, deep work of conviction and repentance and salvation where it is needed, and wisdom and strength to train your child in the Lord, all for His glory. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
