Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects a sincere hunger for God's goodness and for His power in your life, and I am grateful you shared it so we can stand with you.
God does want to bless you, but the heart of His blessing is not found in repeating words for favor or in trying to earn more from Him. He invites you into a close, loving relationship as a Father, not a formal or ritual one. Jesus taught us to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, because God wants you to know Him as your Father and to know how much He loves you. We do not receive His blessings because we have done enough to deserve them. The law could never bring us into that place. We receive them by faith in Jesus Christ, because through Him we become children of God. When you learn to live in that loving relationship, your life is truly blessed, because the blessing no longer depends on your own works.
That relationship with God is primary. Scripture puts what belongs to God first because until that vertical relationship is right, no other relationship can be right. When your walk with the Lord is in order, the other relationships in your life begin to find their proper balance. You can often trace struggles in relationships with others back to where things stand between you and God. Our relationship with Him is meant to enhance every other relationship we have. That includes the way we love, show compassion, act with courtesy, and refuse to return evil for evil. God also shows in His Word that He cares deeply about the home and about honoring His design for relationships. His best for us is found when our relationships reflect His will, especially in marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and in keeping physical intimacy within that covenant. So as we pray for blessing in your relationships, we pray that each one would be shaped by your relationship with Jesus and brought into line with what honors Him.
You also mentioned principalities and powers of darkness, and you are right to recognize that our real battle is not against people. It is a spiritual battle against spirit forces at work around us. That warfare is constant, whether we sense it or not, and often we feel the impact of it in our minds and hearts. The weapons for this battle are not physical. God has given us spiritual weapons, His Word, faith, and prayer. By those we stand against the enemy and see him defeated. It is not about demanding miracles on our schedule, as if God only works on certain occasions. He is not limited that way. He works according to His wisdom and grace, and we trust Him to do what is right.
And when we speak of glory, we remember that all glory belongs to Him. We do not seek glory for ourselves, but that His glory would be seen and that His mercies would continue in our lives and be passed on as we walk in obedience to Him.
So let us pray together. Father, we thank You that through faith in Jesus Christ we can come to You as our Father. We ask that You deepen this dear one's loving relationship with You, and that by faith they would abound in the blessings of Your grace. Set their heart to perceive You more clearly, to hear Your voice, and to walk in Your ways. Bring every relationship in their life under Your lordship, that those relationships would be healthy, holy, and pleasing to You. Guard their mind, strengthen their faith, and teach them to use the spiritual weapons You have provided, Your Word and prayer, to stand firm against every spiritual attack. We ask not for blessings on anything outside Your will, but for Your perfect will to be done and for Your glory to be revealed. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ with thanksgiving. Amen.
