We are so grateful that you have reached out for help and prayer. Firstly, we acknowledge your courage in admitting your struggle with alcoholism and your desire for forgiveness. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. This is stated very clearly in the scriptures. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. It is only by the name of Jesus we can be saved. For it is by believing in Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven. And be assured of this. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
Firstly, let us address the issue of alcoholism. The Bible tells us to be sober and self-controlled. Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. We are to be filled with the Spirit, not with wine. For the fruit of the Spirit is a direct contrast. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Your desire to drink alcohol on your bed and stare out your window will not solve your problems at work. Instead, turn to God in prayer and seek His help. He is the only one who can truly help you and give you the strength to overcome your addiction. For God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with alcoholism. Lord, we know that this is a bondage that only You can break. We pray for Your forgiveness and Your strength to overcome this addiction. Help them to turn to You in their time of need, instead of turning to alcohol.
Lord, we also pray for their work situation. We pray for Your wisdom and guidance. Help them to do their work with integrity and excellence, and to honor You in all they do.
Finally, Lord, we pray for their salvation. We pray that they would come to know You personally, through a relationship with Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that they would believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Please know that you are loved and that there is hope in Jesus. Seek out a local church or Christian support group to help you on your journey to sobriety and faith.
