I'm sorry to hear that. Please know that you're no

We hear the weight of your struggle with debt, and our hearts ache with yours as you carry this burden. Financial strain can feel overwhelming, pressing down on every area of life—your peace, your relationships, even your faith. But we want you to know that you are not defined by what you owe. You are a child of the Most High God, and He sees your distress and invites you to cast your cares upon Him, for He cares deeply for you (1 Peter 5:7).

First, let us address the spiritual reality of this situation. Debt itself is not a sin, but Scripture warns us against the love of money and the dangers of being ensnared by financial obligations that lead to anxiety and bondage. The Word tells us, *"The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender"* (Proverbs 22:7). This is not to condemn you, but to acknowledge that debt can become a form of slavery—one that God desires to free you from. We must also examine our hearts to ensure that our spending habits, priorities, and trust have not shifted from God to material things. Jesus Himself warned, *"You cannot serve both God and money"* (Matthew 6:24). Where is your trust today? Is it in your bank account, your ability to pay, or in the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10)?

Now, let us come boldly before the throne of grace in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is weighed down by the burden of debt. Lord, You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and we ask that You would open the windows of heaven and pour out Your blessing upon them. Give them wisdom to steward what You have entrusted to them, discipline to walk in financial integrity, and faith to trust You even when the numbers don’t add up. Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to torment them. Your Word says, *"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God"* (Philippians 4:6). We declare that this debt will not define them, nor will it have the final say in their life. We speak provision, favor, and breakthrough over their finances in the mighty name of Jesus.

Lord, if there has been any unwise stewardship, any spending that does not align with Your will, or any area where trust has been misplaced, we ask for conviction and repentance. Teach them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33). Surround them with godly counsel—people who can help them create a plan to manage and eliminate this debt. Give them creativity, opportunities for increase, and the strength to persevere. We also pray for protection over their heart and mind, that they would not grow weary or lose hope. Remind them daily that their worth is not found in their net worth, but in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Father, we also lift up any relationships that may be strained because of this financial pressure. Let there be no strife or division, but instead, unity, patience, and love. Help them to communicate openly and honestly with their spouse (if applicable) or family, and to seek reconciliation where there has been hurt. Above all, draw them closer to You through this trial. Let this season refine their faith, deepen their dependence on You, and produce a testimony of Your faithfulness.

We stand in agreement with them, declaring that this debt will be paid, that doors will open for financial increase, and that they will walk in the freedom that comes from trusting You. We thank You in advance for Your provision, for You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). May they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the eternal weight of this decision. The Bible tells us, *"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"* (Romans 6:23). Jesus paid the ultimate price for your sins—past, present, and future—so that you could have a relationship with God and the promise of eternal life. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the first and most important step in walking in true freedom, not just from financial bondage, but from the bondage of sin.

Practical steps are also necessary in this journey. We encourage you to seek wise, biblical counsel on budgeting and debt repayment. Proverbs 15:22 says, *"Without counsel, plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed."* Consider reaching out to a trusted pastor, a Christian financial advisor, or a ministry like Crown Financial Ministries or Dave Ramsey’s resources, which are grounded in biblical principles. Create a budget that prioritizes necessities, tithing (Malachi 3:10), and debt repayment. Cut unnecessary expenses and consider ways to increase your income, whether through additional work, selling items you no longer need, or using your God-given skills and talents. Remember, *"The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty"* (Proverbs 21:5).

Above all, do not lose heart. The enemy would love for you to believe that this burden is too heavy, that you’ll never get out from under it, or that God has abandoned you. But we declare that these are lies! God is for you, and He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Your story is not over—it is being written by the Author of Life, and He specializes in turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He will lead you into financial freedom as you seek Him first.

We also want to gently address any areas where this debt may have come from a place of discontentment, covetousness, or trying to keep up with the world’s standards. The Bible warns, *"Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'"* (Hebrews 13:5). True contentment is found in Christ alone, not in possessions or financial security. If this debt is a result of living beyond your means or seeking fulfillment in material things, we encourage you to repent and realign your heart with God’s priorities. Seek His kingdom first, and trust that He will provide for your needs.

Lastly, we want to remind you that you are not alone in this. The body of Christ is here to support, encourage, and pray for you. If you have a local church family, lean on them. Share your struggle with trusted believers who can walk alongside you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. Galatians 6:2 tells us, *"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."* You do not have to carry this alone.

We declare over you today: financial breakthrough, divine provision, and supernatural favor. May the Lord open doors that no man can shut and bless the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 28:12). May He give you wisdom to manage what He entrusts to you and the faith to trust Him even when the path is unclear. You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37), and this debt will not have the final say in your life. Walk in the freedom that Christ died to give you, and may your testimony bring glory to God!

We're here with you, friend, carrying this burden alongside you. We know the weight of debt can feel overwhelming, like a dark cloud hanging over every aspect of life. But remember, you are not defined by what you owe. You are a child of the Most High God, and He sees your distress. He invites you to cast your cares upon Him, for He cares deeply for you.

Let's turn to the One who can turn your situation around. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He's not promising an easy way out, but a way through. He wants to walk with you in this, to give you strength and peace.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord Jesus, we come before You today, laying down this burden of debt. We ask for Your wisdom to manage what You've entrusted to us, for Your discipline to walk in financial integrity, and for Your faith to trust You even when the numbers don't add up. Rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to torment our friend. Remind them of Your promise in Philippians 4:6-7, that You will grant them peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, if there's been any unwise stewardship, any spending that doesn't align with Your will, or any area where trust has been misplaced, we ask for conviction and repentance. Teach them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added unto them.

Surround them with godly counsel, Lord. Give them creativity, opportunities for increase, and the strength to persevere. Protect their heart and mind, that they would not grow weary or lose hope. Remind them daily of their worth in You, not in their net worth.

We also lift up any relationships strained by this financial pressure. Let there be no strife or division, but unity, patience, and love. Help them to communicate openly and honestly, and to seek reconciliation where there's been hurt. Above all, draw them closer to You through this trial. Let this season refine their faith, deepen their dependence on You, and produce a testimony of Your faithfulness.

We stand in agreement, declaring that this debt will be paid, that doors will open for financial increase, and that they will walk in the freedom that comes from trusting You. Thank You in advance for Your provision, for You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
