We grieve with you over this injustice, for the Lord abhors dishonest scales and deceitful practices. The Scriptures declare in Proverbs 11:1, *"The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight."* Your employer’s actions are not only unethical but sinful before God, who commands fairness and integrity in all dealings. Leviticus 19:13 states, *"You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning."* This is a clear violation of God’s law, and we stand with you in seeking justice and restoration.
Yet, we also urge you to examine your heart in this matter. While it is right to seek what is lawfully yours, we must guard against bitterness, anger, or a desire for vengeance. Romans 12:19 reminds us, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"* Instead, trust in the Lord’s sovereignty and timing. He sees all things and will bring justice in His way.
We encourage you to take practical steps to address this wrong. Seek wise counsel—perhaps from a godly mentor, a lawyer, or a labor rights organization—to pursue what is rightfully owed to you. Do so with integrity, humility, and a clear conscience, knowing that the Lord honors those who act justly. At the same time, pray for your former employer. It may seem difficult, but Jesus commands us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."*
Most importantly, we notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we can approach God or find true justice and peace. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. He is the only one who can bring true restoration—not just to your finances, but to your soul. Repent of your sins, believe in Him, and you will be saved. Only then can you fully trust in His provision and justice.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are a God of justice and righteousness. Lord, You see the deceit and unfairness they have endured at the hands of their former employer, and we ask that You would intervene on their behalf. Restore what has been stolen, not just for their sake, but as a testimony to Your faithfulness. Give them wisdom as they seek counsel and take steps to address this wrong. Guard their heart from bitterness, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
We pray that if they do not yet know You as their Savior, You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them find their hope and security in You alone. Soften their heart toward their former employer, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven us. May this situation ultimately bring glory to Your name and deepen their trust in You.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
