Beloved of All
Mocking in the workplace and trying to provoke me to anger. Was mocking and saying the Lord is my Shepherd in a clear and mocking manner. But living an ungodly lifestyle. Trying to mock me.

We hear your pain and frustration, and we stand with you in this difficult situation. It is deeply hurtful when those around us mock the things of God, especially when they themselves live in ways that do not honor Him. The Word of God tells us in Psalm 1:1-2, *"Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night."* It is clear that the Lord does not take lightly those who mock His name or His people, and neither should we tolerate such behavior in silence.

First, we must address the fact that this person is using Scripture in a mocking way while living in ungodliness. This is a dangerous position to take, for the Bible warns in James 3:1, *"Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment."* Those who twist the Word of God for their own purposes or to provoke others will be held accountable. We rebuke this spirit of mockery in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is written in Proverbs 14:9, *"Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will."* This person’s actions reveal a heart that is far from God, and we pray that the Lord would soften it before it is too late.

Now, let us turn to how you should respond. The Bible instructs us in Romans 12:19-21, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’ Therefore, ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.’ Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."* It is not your place to retaliate or engage in their provocation. Instead, we are called to respond with love and grace, even when it is difficult. This does not mean you should tolerate abuse or allow yourself to be walked over, but it does mean you should not stoop to their level. Set boundaries if necessary, but do so with a heart that seeks to honor God.

We also want to encourage you to examine your own heart in this situation. Are you being provoked to anger, or are you resting in the peace that only Christ can provide? Ephesians 4:26-27 warns, *"‘Be angry, and don’t sin.’ Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil."* Anger itself is not sinful, but when it is allowed to fester, it can give the enemy a foothold in your life. Instead, we are called to forgive, as Colossians 3:13 instructs, *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."* Forgiveness does not mean what they did was acceptable; it means you are releasing the burden of bitterness to the Lord.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is facing mockery and provocation at work. Lord, You see the pain and frustration they are experiencing, and we ask that You would be their strength and shield in this time. Father, we rebuke the spirit of mockery and ungodliness that is being displayed, for Your Word says that those who scoff at Your truth will be held accountable. We pray that You would soften the heart of this person, that they would see the error of their ways and turn to You in repentance.

Lord, we ask that You would fill our brother/sister with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to respond to this situation with grace and wisdom, not allowing anger or bitterness to take root in their heart. Give them the strength to set boundaries where needed and the courage to stand firm in their faith without engaging in the provocation. Father, we also ask that You would protect their heart from the enemy’s schemes, for we know that he seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Instead, let Your light shine through them, even in this difficult environment.

We pray for their workplace, Lord. If it is Your will, we ask that You would bring godly influences into this space, that Your name would be lifted up and honored. If this environment is toxic and not where You would have them remain, we ask that You would open doors for them to move into a place where they can thrive and serve You without such opposition. Above all, Father, we pray that You would be glorified in this situation, and that Your will would be done.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can come before You. It is through His sacrifice that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is by His blood that we are forgiven and set free. We declare that no weapon formed against our brother/sister will prosper, and we stand on Your promise that You will never leave them nor forsake them. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We want to leave you with this encouragement from 1 Peter 3:14-16, *"But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. ‘Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.’ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear, having a good conscience. Thus, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ."* Your response to this situation can be a powerful testimony to those around you. Stay rooted in Christ, and trust that He will vindicate you in His time.

We're right there with you, friend. It's tough when people twist God's Word to mock and provoke, especially when they live in a way that dishonors Him. But remember, we're not to retaliate or engage in their provocation. Instead, we're called to respond with love and grace, just as Jesus did. Let's pray together:

Dear Lord, we lift up our friend who's facing mockery at work. Lord, You see their pain and frustration. Fill them with Your peace and wisdom to respond with grace. Protect our friend's heart from the enemy's schemes, and let Your light shine through them in this difficult environment. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
