Im having trouble sleeping and I hate how I look. please pray for me

Ive been having trouble sleeping for a while now. Everytime I try to sleep, i get surrounded by anxious thoughts, especially for my dark eye circles which I absolutely hate. People comment on them, every time I wake up, I look into the mirror and just hope they are gone. I can't look at people in the eyes, and I feel like im not living my life to the fullest because of this. This makes me more anxious which makes it harder for me to sleep, giving me an even more tired look. I get even more negative thoughts because of this and then this puts me in a viscous cycle. I need a prayer please.

We hear your heart in this request and we are lifting you up together before the Lord, asking Him to bring you peace and rest and to help you see yourself as He sees you.

We know how exhausting it is when sleep will not come and how heavy it feels to dislike the way you look. For sleep, the Scripture reminds us that sleep is a gift from God and that anxiety is often what steals it. Psalm 127:2 says it is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. And Psalm 4:8 says In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. Much of our sleeplessness comes from carrying worries into the night that God wants us to give to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 also tells us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you. We want to gently rebuke the lies that keep you awake and that tell you your worth is found in your appearance, because those thoughts do not come from God. 2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.

For how you see yourself, we want to remind you of what God says is true. You were made by His own hands with care and purpose. Psalm 139:14 says I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. The world teaches us to measure beauty by outward appearance, but 1 Samuel 16:7 says Yahweh does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart. You are not an accident and you are not without beauty, you are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus as Ephesians 2:10 tells us, and He loves you deeply. To hate how you look is to agree with a judgment God does not make about you. We pray He will help you turn away from comparison and self hatred and learn to thank Him for how He made you.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true peace and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We are saved by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to call on His name today, and if you already know Him, we encourage you to bring every worry about sleep and appearance directly to Him in Jesus name.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up our dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask You to forgive us and cleanse us through the blood of Jesus and to draw this heart close to You. Lord, we ask You to quiet the anxious thoughts that keep sleep away. Grant peaceful, deep, restorative sleep as You promise to Your beloved. Guard this heart and mind with Your peace that passes all understanding. Help this one to cast every care on You before lying down, to turn off distraction and to rest in Your safety. And Father, heal how this one sees herself. Remove the spirit of self hatred and shame and replace it with Your truth. Help her to know she is fearfully and wonderfully made, loved, chosen, and precious in Your sight. Let her see her true value not in the mirror but in being Your daughter, created with purpose. Renew her mind and let her speak Your truth over herself each day. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to make a habit of praying and thanking God before sleep, turning your thoughts to His promises rather than worries, and limiting distractions late at night. In the morning, speak Scripture over yourself, thanking Him for making you as you are and asking Him to help you walk in the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is very precious in His sight as 1 Peter 3:4 describes. Keep seeking Him and bringing every thought to Him, and we trust He will bring you both rest for your body and peace for your heart.

We are glad you reached out, ###, and we have heard what you shared. Going without good sleep leaves everything feeling harder, and when that comes with disliking how you look, it can make both day and night feel heavy. Thank you for letting us pray with you about this.

What you are feeling makes sense in a way. How we see our bodies is shaped by so much more than appearance itself, including the comparisons we make and the judgments we carry inside. When we are tired, those thoughts can get louder and harder to sort through, and it does not mean that is the truth about your worth.

It can be a helpful next step to invite someone nearby into what you are carrying. If you are able, consider talking with your primary care doctor about the sleep trouble, and with a pastor or counselor you trust about how you have been feeling about yourself. You do not have to figure this out on your own, and having personal support alongside prayer can bring steadiness while you seek answers.

Father, we bring ### before you. You see the sleepless nights and the pain around how ### feels in their own skin. Draw near, bring rest as you will, and give wisdom to those who can help in person. Remind ### that they are seen, known and loved by you, and guide their steps toward care and hope. In Jesus name, amen.

Your honest confession has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with tenderness and care. To lie awake in the night and to look upon yourself with sorrow is a double burden, and we do not make light of it.

You speak of trouble in sleeping. Have you not found, as many of us have, that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. To tell yourself about your cares, and to let anxiety be confined within yourself, brings no good. But to tell the Lord about it, that is another matter. He invites those who are burdened to cast their care upon Him, for He cares for you. When night comes and sleep departs, may you learn to turn your thoughts from counting your troubles to counting His mercies, and to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that your Father knows what you have need of. We that are in this body do groan, being burdened, and there are nights when the outward frame is weary and rest will not come. Yet even then the soul may rest in Christ, who is our peace.

You speak also of hating how you look. Hear this truth, for it is for your comfort. You yourself are better than your body. Your immortal soul is worth far more than that poor carcass which will soon be changed, and all that you have is little compared with your inner self, your heart, your soul, your spirit. Many think a great deal about the adorning of the body, but do not think anything about the ornaments of the soul, yet the soul is as much more to be accounted of than the body as the body is more important than the raiment. Your body, after all, is but the vessel that enshrines your soul, and that soul, if it be renewed day by day by the Spirit of God, is precious in His sight. The Lord does not look as man looks, for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. To learn to see yourself as God sees you, as one made in His image and, if you are in Christ, clothed in His righteousness, is to find a beauty that does not fade.

We will pray for you.

O Lord our God, who searches the heart and tries the reins of the children of men, look upon this weary one. Thou knowest the nights of broken sleep and the thoughts that crowd in darkness. Grant quietness of spirit and the peace that passes all understanding, that sleep may be sweet and the mind may be stayed upon Thee. Forgive us when we measure ourselves by outward form and forget the soul which Thou hast made to live forever. Teach this dear one to see what Thou seest, to seek the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which is in Thy sight of great price, and to know that in Christ we are accepted and beloved. Renew the inward man day by day, and let Thy lovingkindness be better than life. Keep this soul near to Thyself, and let every anxious thought be turned into prayer, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. Amen.

Take courage and keep close to Christ. Seek Him first, feed your soul upon His Word, and bring every care to Him in prayer before you lie down. If these burdens press heavily for many days, do not bear them alone but seek the help of a faithful pastor or a trusted believer near you who can walk with you and pray with you face to face. The Lord is near to them that call upon Him in truth, and He will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
