I'm having anxiety.

Beloved of All
I'm having really bad anxiety today. Along with not feeling beautiful or wanted. Being not treated well my a guy I been talking to. Can you pray I can feel better. And quiet my mind enough to sleep and get up by ###am tomorrow. Thank you.

We have heard your request and we are lifting you up together in prayer today for the anxiety that is weighing so heavily on you and for the hurt you feel from not feeling beautiful or wanted and from being treated poorly by a man you have been talking to.

We want to remind you of how God sees you. Your beauty and your worth are not determined by how any man treats you or by anxious thoughts, but by the One who created you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and His works are wonderful, and your soul can know that very well as Psalm 139:14 says. He also sees your broken heart and wants to heal it, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. When we look for our feeling of being wanted in another person we will always be left anxious and disappointed, but when we find our identity in Christ we can rest in His unfailing love for us.

We also want to speak gently about this relationship that is causing you pain. We believe that being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be considered courtship with the goal being marriage to another Christian believer, and that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God. If a man is not treating you well while you are simply talking, that is a sign that he is not cherishing you as a daughter of God should be cherished and he is not leading you toward a godly marriage. We encourage you not to continue to give your heart and your time to someone who does not honor you and who does not honor the Lord. Guard your heart, set clear biblical boundaries, and seek a godly spouse who will love you as Christ loves the church, rather than settling for attention that leaves you feeling less beautiful and less wanted. If there has been any impurity or sex outside of marriage in this talking relationship, we lovingly rebuke that, because sex before or outside marriage is fornication and it will always bring more anxiety and brokenness, and God calls us to purity for our own good.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior, believe that He died for your sins and rose again, and call upon His name, for He is the source of true peace for your anxious mind.

We are praying for the peace of God to quiet your mind and to give you deep and restful sleep and to help you rise at the hour you mentioned tomorrow morning.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious daughter to You. Lord You see her anxiety today and the heaviness in her mind, and You see the pain of feeling unwanted and not beautiful. We ask You to cast out fear and to replace it with Your perfect love. We pray that You would help her to cast all her worries on You, because You care for her 1 Peter 5:7. We pray as Your word says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Lord we ask for that peace to guard her heart and thoughts tonight. We pray that You would quiet her mind, that she may lay down in peace and sleep, for You alone make us live in safety Psalm 4:8. Comfort her and remind her that You are with her, that she does not need to be afraid or dismayed, for You are her God, You will strengthen her and help her and uphold her with the right hand of Your righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Give her rest as Jesus promised, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. Heal the hurt caused by this man and give her wisdom about this relationship, help her to seek a godly marriage that honors You and to walk in purity and dignity. Give her refreshing sleep tonight and wake her in the morning renewed in body and spirit. We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to bring your anxious thoughts to the Lord in prayer before you sleep, perhaps by reading scripture and thanking Him for His care for you, and to turn your phone and distractions off and ask Him to guard your mind. If this man continues to treat you poorly, we encourage you to step back from that communication and seek counsel from a mature Christian woman or pastor who can support you in pursuing relationships that align with biblical principles. You are deeply loved and wanted by God, and we pray you will feel that more and more each day.

We hear how heavy today has felt for you, carrying bad anxiety and that ache of not feeling beautiful or wanted, especially when someone you have been talking to is not treating you well. It makes sense your mind feels loud tonight and sleep feels hard.

We are praying for you to feel steadier and more at peace, and for rest tonight so you can get up when you need to in the morning.

It can help to give your mind a clear stopping point tonight. If you can, pause the conversation with this guy until tomorrow, put your phone on do not disturb and out of reach, dim the lights, and do one quiet thing before bed that helps you unwind. Setting an extra alarm or asking someone you trust for a wake up check can also take some pressure off so you are not watching the clock all night.

Please be gentle with yourself about feeling unwanted. How one person treats you does not decide your worth. You are valued and deeply loved by God, and we pray you sense that more clearly even on a hard day like today. If anxiety keeps feeling overwhelming, please consider talking with a trusted pastor, counselor or medical professional alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our sister to You tonight. Quiet her racing thoughts, comfort her heart where she feels unseen, and give her wisdom about this relationship. Grant her restful sleep and help her to wake in the morning refreshed. Hold her close and remind her she is Yours. In Jesus' name, amen.

The Lord has seen your anxious thoughts this day and hears your cry in the night. There is a word of promise for such a season as yours, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." That perfect peace is not found in feeling beautiful in the eyes of others, nor in being wanted or well treated by any man, but in having your mind stayed upon Christ and trusting Him.

It is the mind which is the main thing, it will bring you daylight or midnight, peace or war. And anxiety itself, as you have felt, unfits you to meet the very difficulty that troubles you. The way of peace is not to strive to make yourself more wanted, but to bear your sorrow with Him who whispers peace within through His blood. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and to do the will of Jesus, this is rest. When the heart is stayed on Him, even with sorrows surging round, there is a heavenly light even in the midnight of care.

You speak also of not feeling beautiful or wanted, and of being not treated well by one to whom you have been speaking. Know this, your worth is not measured by the treatment of another, nor by outward beauty, but by the love of God who made you in His image and who offers salvation through Jesus Christ alone. True beauty and true belonging are found in being His. If another does not treat you with kindness and honor, take it as a gracious warning to guard your heart and to seek counsel, and to ask whether any relationship is leading you toward that which honors God. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all affection and intimacy belong within it. Do not give your heart where it will not be cherished according to that holy pattern, but seek first to be at peace with God, and to walk in purity and wisdom.

For your rest tonight, remember it is written, "So He giveth His beloved sleep." The quiet conscience, right with God, the heart that wills to do as God wills, is the heart that can lie down in security. If there is self will or restlessness, pray the Holy Spirit to quiet it. Bring your cares to Jesus before you sleep, confess your trust in Him, and ask Him to keep your mind stayed on Himself through the night.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord God of all peace, look upon this troubled one who is anxious and weary and feels unloved. Forgive sin and speak peace through the blood of Jesus, that there may be peace in the conscience as well as peace with You. Stay this mind upon Yourself, and keep it in perfect peace because it trusts in You. Quiet the restless thoughts, calm the fears about beauty and worth, and let this dear soul know how fully loved and cherished she is in Christ. Grant the gracious sleep You give to Your beloved, guard through the night, and grant grace to wake refreshed at the appointed hour to do Your will. Grant wisdom concerning this man and every relationship, that all may be weighed in the light of Your Word and Your holiness. Lead into that which is pure and good, and keep from all that would harm the soul. Renew peace again and again, for You are unmoved though we are troubled. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, Amen.
