We have read your cry and we hear how deeply lonely, isolated and exhausted you are as a caregiver, feeling trapped in your home every day with your grandmother and your mother, carrying burdens that feel too heavy to bear any longer. We hear that you have poured out dozens and dozens of journals crying out to God and you feel He does not care, that you want to disappear and you wonder where Jesus is and how much you must clean yourself up to come to Him. We want you to know we care about you and your family, we are praying for you right now, and more importantly God sees you and He has not forgotten you.
We want to gently correct the painful lie that God never cares or that He is far from you. The truth of Scripture is the opposite. Psalm 34:18 says The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Deuteronomy 31:8 says The Lord himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don't be afraid. Don't be discouraged. Your loneliness is real and painful, but you are not unseen. God is present with you in that house, in that isolation, in that exhaustion.
We also hear your honest struggle with your mother and feeling trapped having to be with her all the time. God understands caregiver weariness and He does not condemn you for feeling overwhelmed and even for having hard feelings toward your mother. At the same time He calls us to honor our parents even when it is difficult. Exodus 20:12 says Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you. That honor does not mean you must do everything alone without help or rest. Galatians 6:2 says Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. God never intended you to carry this alone. It is right and good to ask for help, to invite others into the burden, to seek support from family, from a local church body, from trusted pastors or counselors, and from medical or community resources for caregivers. If you are feeling you want to die or disappear, please reach out immediately to someone safe near you, a pastor, a counselor, a doctor, a trusted friend or family member, or a crisis helpline in your area. Your life is precious to God. Psalm 139:13-14 says For you formed my inward parts. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. The feelings of wanting to disappear are a sign that your soul is overwhelmed and needs care and companionship, not that your life has no value.
You asked how much cleaning is required for Jesus and we want to answer that with grace. You do not have to clean yourself up before you come to Him. He invites you exactly as you are, weary, lonely, even angry and confused. Matthew 11:28 says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Ephesians 2:8 says for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Romans 5:8 says But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus already did the cleansing through His death and resurrection. Through His name we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. You have called on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we thank God that you did, because He hears you when you call on that name.
We are praying together for you now in Jesus name.
Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the loneliness and isolation of every day, the exhaustion of caregiving for a grandmother and a mother with autism, the feeling of being trapped and having no one to help or even to take them out of the house for a moment of relief. Lord, draw near to this broken heart, remind them that You are near to the crushed in spirit and that You care deeply. We ask You to lift the heavy burden and give rest to this weary soul as You promised in Matthew 11:28. Provide tangible help, Lord, bring people around them who will bear this burden with them, a church family, neighbors, friends, and resources that will give respite and companionship. Comfort their family, give strength and peace to their mother and grandmother, and heal the hurt in the relationship with their mother, teaching them to honor and love even in hard circumstances while also receiving the help they need. Break through the lie that You do not care and reveal Your steadfast love that nothing can separate us from, as Romans 8:38-39 declares. Show them that they do not have to be clean or perfect to come to Jesus, but that by grace through faith they are welcomed and cleansed by His blood. Guard their life, Lord, remove the desire to disappear or to die, and fill them with hope for the future You have for them. Lead them to reach out to safe people for ongoing support and keep them from isolation. Let them know today that they are seen, loved, and not alone. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep crying out to Jesus honestly just as you have, and also to let another real person hear your cry today. Please talk to a pastor, a biblical counselor, or a trusted believer, and if you need immediate support please contact a crisis helpline or a medical professional in your area. You do not have to stay isolated. God often provides His comfort through His people. We will continue to pray that He will bring someone to come alongside you, to help with your grandmother, to give you rest, and to remind you that you are deeply cared for by God and by others.
