We have heard your honest confession about struggling heavily with lust and lustful mindsets and we thank you for bringing this into the light, for it is in the light that healing begins. We want to stand with you in prayer for humility and for freedom, and we also want to lovingly speak the truth about this struggle.
The Word of God is clear that lust is not a small matter to be managed but sin to be repented of and fled from. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, but I tell you, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. And we are commanded in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Lust defiles the heart and mind that God desires to make pure and it cannot be indulged while also walking closely with Him. We rebuke this sin with you, not to condemn you, but to call you to turn from it completely and to pursue holiness, for God calls us to be holy as He is holy.
We also hear your desire to be humble, and that desire itself is from the Lord. Pride keeps us trapped because we try to fight in our own strength and hide our failures, but humility opens the door to grace. James 4:6 says, But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. And 1 Peter 5:6 says, Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. When we humble ourselves, we confess our weakness, we agree with God about our sin, and we cry out for His help, and He is faithful to help us.
We want to encourage you that victory is possible, but it comes through walking by the Spirit and renewing the mind, not by willpower alone. Galatians 5:16 says, But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you don’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. Romans 12:2 says, Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. And Philippians 4:8 says, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. We encourage you to take every lustful thought captive to the obedience of Christ as 2 Corinthians 10:5 teaches, to flee from youthful lusts as 2 Timothy 2:22 commands, to cut off sources of temptation, to fill your mind daily with Scripture, and to walk in accountable fellowship with other faithful believers who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Do not remain in isolation, for isolation feeds this sin.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and power to overcome sin. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness as promised in 1 John 1:9, but that forgiveness and cleansing comes through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again. If you have not yet fully trusted Him as Lord and Savior, we urge you to believe in Him, confess Him as Lord, and surrender your life to Him, for there is no victory over lust apart from His saving and transforming grace.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is battling lust. Lord, we confess this sin before You and we ask for Your mercy and cleansing. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him as You promise in Psalm 51:10. Grant him true humility to agree with You about his sin, to turn from it, and to depend wholly on Your grace. Help him to flee sexual immorality and to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Fill his mind with what is pure and true, help him to walk by Your Spirit each day, and give him strength to say no to the flesh and yes to You. Surround him with godly brothers who will encourage him and hold him accountable, and let him experience the freedom and joy of a conscience cleansed by the blood of Jesus. We ask that You would keep him from falling back into lust and that You would make him more like Christ, humble and pure, for Your glory. We pray all of this in the precious name of Jesus, who alone saves and delivers us. Amen.

We know how discouraging it can feel to want to walk clean and then find yourself falling back into the same thoughts and habits. Wanting to be humble is a good and right desire, and in practice humility often looks less like feeling bad about yourself and more like staying honest before God and others, asking for help, and being willing to take concrete steps even when it is uncomfortable.
One thing that has helped many who face this same battle is not trying to fight it alone. Consider inviting one mature, same-sex believer you trust, perhaps a pastor or mentor, to know what you are up against and to check in with you regularly. And while you are strong, decide ahead of time to clear away what trips you up most, whether that is certain apps, images, late night phone use, or being alone with a device. Preparing beforehand keeps you from having to make the decision in the moment of temptation.

Beloved of All
Your honest confession has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer. It is a good and hopeful sign that you desire humility and deliverance from lust, for God gives grace to the humble and calls His people to purity.
You ask for humility, and Scripture teaches us what it truly is. Humility is not to think falsely against yourself, but to form a right estimate of yourself before God. Its throne must be the heart, not merely the face or the words, and it must be genuine. We are to serve the Lord with all humility, with humility before the service, humility during the service, and humility when all is done, remembering that all strength and all victory are from Him. The humble soul prays best, for prostrate before the throne is the proper attitude of prayer, and the same considerations that humble us also encourage us to pray.
You also confess a heavy struggle with lust and lustful mindsets. The Word warns us plainly that lust when it has conceived brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. Purity is not optional for the Christian, for without holiness no one shall see the Lord. Charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and one cannot be worn without the other. The desire you express to be cleansed and to have a pure mind is itself evidence that the Spirit is working in you.
Our Lord taught us to pray, Lead us not into temptation. Temptation in itself is dangerous, and though God may bring good out of it, we are right to pray to be spared from its power and to be kept from staining our garments. The man who prays that prayer and then willingly goes into temptation contradicts his own prayer. Therefore we urge you, as you pray for deliverance, also to flee from every occasion and provision for lust. Do not linger where temptation is strong. Guard the eyes and the heart, keep far from what feeds unholy thoughts, and fill the mind with Christ and His Word. Faith and humility go hand in hand, the one bold as a lion in trusting Christ, the other meek as a dove in abhorring self, and together they lead to victory.
There is forgiveness and power in Jesus Christ alone. He lived, died and rose again to save sinners, and He is alive now as our familiar Friend and Helper. Worldly thoughts cannot overcome Him, but the glance of faith that looks to Him for all things does overcome, for He delights to give grace to those who look to Him in humble dependence. He understands temptation, having been tempted, and He is able to keep those who trust Him from falling.
We are praying for you, that God would deepen true humility in your heart, that He would cleanse your mind and give you strength to walk in purity, and that He would teach you to hate the temptation itself while loving the Saviour who delivers from it. May you be kept from going into temptation, and may you stand fast by His grace.
We pray: O Lord, lover of humility and Author of faith, look upon this soul who desires to be humble and pure. Grant a right and lowly estimate of self, a heart that is genuine before Thee, and a mind that is kept pure. Forgive sin through the blood of Jesus Christ, and give power to overcome lust and to think those thoughts which are holy and clean. Lead not into temptation, but deliver from evil, and keep by Thy grace to the end. Fill the heart with Christ, that there may be no room for what defiles. In Jesus name we ask this, Amen.
