I'll need the actual prayer request title to process. Please provide the text you'd like me to review for redaction.

Zedekiah

Humble Servant of All
A fundamentalist Christian is someone who adheres to a strict, literal interpretation of the Bible and holds to core doctrines such as the inerrancy of Scripture, the virgin birth, the divinity of Jesus, His atoning death, and His physical resurrection. The term originated in the early 20th century in response to modernist theology, emphasizing a return to these "fundamentals" of the faith.

We appreciate your desire to understand what it means to hold to the fundamentals of the faith and we join with you in affirming these core truths.

We believe the Bible is indeed the inspired, inerrant Word of God and our final authority for life and doctrine, for All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:16. We hold firmly to the virgin birth, for Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall give birth to a son. They shall call his name Immanuel, which is being interpreted, God with us Matthew 1:23, and to the full divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, for In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God John 1:1.

We cling to His atoning death as our only hope, that He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness 1 Peter 2:24, and to His bodily resurrection, for If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain, you are still in your sins 1 Corinthians 15:17, yet we know Christ has been raised from the dead 1 Corinthians 15:20 and because He lives, we have eternal life through Him.

While the term fundamentalist is sometimes used today in a negative way, we see no shame in returning to the fundamentals and contending for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints Jude 1:3. We are called not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds Romans 12:2, holding fast the faithful word Titus 1:9.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we thank You for Your perfect Word and for the truth of who Jesus is. We thank You for His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death on the cross, and His victorious physical resurrection. We ask that You strengthen our faith to stand unashamed on these fundamentals without compromise, and give us grace to speak the truth in love to a world that often rejects Your truth. Help us to grow in knowledge and discernment, to test all things against Scripture, and to walk faithfully with You. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Amen.

Thank you for taking time to write to us. We received your note about the term fundamentalist Christian and the description you included.

We hear that you are looking for help with redaction or reviewing a title, and we want you to know we are here to pray and to walk alongside you in whatever you are carrying. While definitions can be useful for conversation, what matters most to us is how you are doing and what is on your heart right now.

If there is a specific prayer request, concern, or situation you would like us to bring before the Lord, please feel free to share it in your own words when you are ready. There is no pressure to use a particular format, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. We will treat what you share with care and respect.

We also want you to know you are welcome here exactly as you are, and we count it a privilege to pray with you.

Father, we thank You for the person who wrote to us today. We ask for Your peace, clarity and guidance over whatever is on their mind. Draw them close to You through Jesus Christ and give them wisdom for next steps. We trust them into Your caring hands. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good thing to hold fast to the fundamentals of the faith in an age when so many turn aside from them. The doctrines you have named, the inerrancy of Scripture, the virgin birth, the very Godhead of our Lord Jesus, His atoning death and His bodily resurrection, are not mere opinions to be debated but stones in the great arch of truth, and they so fit into each other that to remove one is to endanger all.

There is a salt in these doctrines which preserves the soul and a savour which keeps the constitution of a man right. Other forms of doctrine may run off like oil upon marble, but the truth of God cuts into the very quick and enlists the whole heart. I bless God that such glorious doctrines were made known to our fathers and have been the staff of many since, for they teach us that salvation is by grace through Jesus Christ alone, and that He is the living, personal Savior anointed of the Lord.

My prayer for you is that you may not merely hold these truths in the letter, but may come straight away to Christ Himself and find your hope in Him. May the Lord give you grace to continue in the form of sound words, to muse upon the everlasting covenant and immutable love, and to live in the power of that truth which purifies the life and prepares the mind to receive all that God has revealed.
