Humble Servant of All
Israel and the Bible are indeed the most prominent ancient texts featuring winged human-like celestial beings, but similar concepts appear in other ancient cultures, such as Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Persian traditions. However, the biblical portrayal of angels as messengers of God who interact with humanity is distinct in its theological significance. The Bible records angelic visitations to Israel as part of God's redemptive plan, setting Judaism and Christianity apart by emphasizing a personal, covenant relationship with the one true God, rather than mythological narratives. This uniqueness underscores the divine revelation and purpose found in Scripture.

We have read your thoughts regarding Israel, the Bible, and celestial beings and we want to respond together with biblical clarity and prayer.

You are correct that Scripture uniquely reveals God's redemptive plan through Israel and that angels are real created beings who serve the Lord, yet we want to gently clarify what the Bible actually teaches about them. Angels are not mythological figures to be compared equally with other ancient traditions, but holy servants created by God. For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things have been created through him and for him Colossians 1:16. They are described as mighty in strength who fulfill his word, obeying the voice of his word Psalm 103:20 and as serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation Hebrews 1:14. The winged beings you mention are specifically cherubim and seraphim, as seen when Isaiah saw the Lord and the seraphim each had six wings Isaiah 6:2, and they continually worship God and carry out His commands, never to be worshipped or prayed to themselves.

The Bible does indeed set itself apart because it is not merely an ancient text among others, but the inspired Word of the one true God revealing His covenant love for Israel and through Israel bringing salvation to all nations through the Messiah. This points us to the most important truth, which was not mentioned in your message, that access to God and understanding of His revelation comes only through Jesus Christ. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is only by placing our faith in Jesus, His death for our sins and His resurrection, that we can be reconciled to God and receive the Holy Spirit to understand Scripture rightly.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we thank You for revealing Yourself through Your Word and through Your covenant with Israel and for making Your redemptive plan known to all. We ask that You grant deeper wisdom and discernment to understand Your Word and to see that angels are Your servants who point to Your glory, not objects of prayer or veneration. We pray that You draw each heart to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, for without Him we cannot come to You. Open eyes to the truth of the gospel, that all who believe in Him will have eternal life and will know You as the one true God. Help us to worship You alone and to trust only in Christ for salvation and for every need. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to continue studying Scripture with a focus on Christ, for all Scripture points to Him, and to seek Him daily in prayer through Jesus alone.

We appreciate you sharing what you've been reflecting on about angels and the way Scripture describes them.

We hear your interest in how the Bible presents angels as messengers within God's redemptive plan, distinct from other ancient traditions, and how that points to a personal relationship with the one true God. It's a thoughtful observation, and it's encouraging to see you wanting to think carefully about what Scripture teaches and why it matters.

We don't have a prayer request title from you to process for redaction, and we want to make sure we honor what is most on your heart. If there is something personal behind your note, a question you're wrestling with, a decision you're facing, or a need you'd like prayer for, you are welcome to share it in your own words and we will pray with you confidentially.

In the meantime, continuing to explore these themes directly in God's Word with a trusted pastor or a small Bible study can be a steady way to grow in understanding. Bringing your questions to the Lord in prayer as you read often brings clarity and peace over time.

Father, thank You for revealing Yourself in Scripture and for inviting us to know You personally through Jesus. We ask for wisdom and understanding for our friend as they study and reflect, and for Your guidance in any needs on their heart today. Draw them closer to You and give them confidence in Your truth and care. In Jesus' name, amen.

I suppose then there are som winged beings in other cultures such as Isis but these beings are mistakingly worshipped. However these winged beings are featured prominently as servants of God in scripture. The Bible puts them winged beings in theyre proper place as servants and not as God. Just like the Bible puts God the Father and his Son in the proper place. Where as other cultures worshipped false Gods. False idols. Devils. Or spiritual teachers drawing many people away toward a higher purpose but not one that ultimately leads directly to God. IE Buddhism. It can seem to be better to pursue a spiritual cause than not because there is virtue however there is also faulty guidance such as philosophies embedded into Buddhism. It is like a better alternative to nothing but still inferior to Christ hood.

It is indeed true that the Scriptures set forth a distinct and glorious revelation concerning heavenly beings and concerning the God who sends them. The heathen nations had their fables and their many gods, but in nothing was Israel so favored as in having the true and living God to be their God, a God who entered into covenant with His people and revealed Himself in mercy and truth.

You have observed rightly that the Bible is not as other ancient writings. Other traditions speak of winged creatures after the imaginations of men, but the Word of God speaks of angels as servants of the Most High, ministering spirits sent forth to do His bidding. And yet even this is not the chief wonder. The greater wonder is that for men, and not for angels, God has provided a covenant of grace, ordered in all things and sure. For the angels who fell there was no covenant of grace, no sacrifice, no atonement by blood. But for fallen men there has been prepared a great atonement through the dying Son of God, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish.

That covenant was not made with angels, but with Christ and with all who are in Him. It is a covenant of grace and not of works, and it still exists in all its power. Though we too often forget the covenant by carelessness or by sin, God remembers His covenant. He is ever mindful of it. When He brought Israel out of Egypt with a high hand and an outstretched arm, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock, He did so because He remembered His promise to Abraham. And that same covenant faithfulness is seen most clearly at Calvary, where the blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin.

To take hold of that covenant is to take hold of Christ Himself by faith. He who lays hold on Christ has laid hold on the covenant, and that covenant shall stand secure when earth's huge pillars bow. Every promise of God in Christ is a part of that covenant, yea and amen in Him. If you would know the personal, covenant relationship with the one true God of which you speak, it is found only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no other.

May the Lord teach you to see His wondrous works, not merely as matters of history or comparison with other cultures, but as His dealings with your own soul. May He give you grace to lay hold upon His covenant by simple faith in Christ, to trust His promise, and to find in Him safety and abundant provision both for time and for eternity.

Let us pray together. O God of Israel, who art ever mindful of Thy covenant, we thank Thee that Thou hast revealed Thyself in Thy Word and in Thy Son. Forgive our forgetfulness and our sin, and wash us in the blood of Christ. Teach this dear soul to know Thee as the covenant God, to take hold of Thy grace in Jesus, and to rest secure in Thy faithful promise. Guide into all truth, and draw near to Thyself all who seek Thee. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing these thoughts about angels and the place of Israel and Scripture. You are right to notice that while other ancient cultures imagined winged beings, the Bible presents something very different. Scripture shows angels not as figures of myth but as servants of God who carry out His purposes, and often they are shown present at the giving of the law and as messengers within His redemptive plan.

That plan finds its center not in angels but in Jesus Christ Himself. The good news we have received is that God came to earth, bore our punishment, and offers righteousness and sanctification and redemption, adoption and an inheritance in heaven to all who trust in His Son. In Christ the long war is ended and reconciliation is made between God and our nature, so that men have fellowship with God and join with the angels in worship, not because of our own merit but by grace through faith.

My prayer for you is that you would draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, not with doubt or with arguments only, but with understanding and love, knowing that in Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. May the God who quickens the dead and calls those things which are not as though they were guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and may His peace, which surpasses all understanding, keep you firm in the faith. May He give you wisdom as you seek Him in Scripture, and establish you in the sure promise that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, received by faith.

If you have a specific burden you would like prayer for, please feel free to share it more plainly and it will be a privilege to bring it before the Lord.
