Hello every one I hope and pray your faith is still strong and your walk with God has opened your eyes to many new things in your life.
As I was sitting here trying to decide what to write about and going over some scriptures about Paul's Damascus road experience and planing on writing about that, the Holy Spirit came upon me and really wanted me to write about Idols in our life.
Gods word is very clear about idol worship and how we put no other god before Him, as it says in Exodus 20: 1-5 And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
That got me thinking is it only other gods we shouldn't put in front of Him or above Him, NO!!! We need to keep Him above everything in our lives. No matter what it is. God is a jealous God. Deuteronomy 6:15 for the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. And Exodus 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. This got me thinking, do I have anything in my life that I pay attention to more than God? Well I am praying for God to reveal this to me so I can be sure to keep Him first.
One thing He wanted me to ask others is do you put God before your marriage restoration or the other way around? When you pray are all you asking for is marriage restoration or for God to change you to what and who He wants you to be? Don't get me wrong we are suppose to pray for our spouses daily as God has told us to stand in the gap for them in one way or another, but is that the only time you talk to God?
I remember when I fist started my stand when God showed up in that hotel room I went to kill myself in and He told me "There will be no divorce and your wife will be back to you and be restored to God and you" for a few months all of my prayers where about that. I was praying God you said this so please make it come to pass. I didn't even take the time to pray for other people I knew who needed prayer because I was afraid if I didn't pray enough it wouldn't happen. Then God in all His glory put me in place James 5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
my prayers changed from restore my marriage to please God restore all hurting marriages and change me to what You have planed for me. I even starting praying for other people who where sick or lost in their lives. And yes I started praying for the other mans soul and his walk with God.
In no way am I saying to stop praying for yourself and your issues in life, I am saying instead of looking for results in your prayers start looking for God in your prayers. Remember what Jesus prayed on the mountain the day before He was crucified? He prayed Father if You are willing please take this cup from me, but not My will but Your will be done.
​Jesus knew what was coming and He knew that even though He was going to be tortured He was going to raise up and once again be in heaven with the Father, however He knew the pain He was going to suffer before He got there, and He prayed saying God if We can skip the pain and just get to the end where I am with You again lets do it, but if this is the only way to bring You glory the so be it. Jesus could have put Himself or the situation before God making it an idol type prayer by worrying about it and being fearful that it may not work however as He said in the end of the prayer, but not my will but your will be done. He is putting God first in His prayers.
Keep in mind Jesus knew the end result of all his suffering just like we do, we know if we follow God, put Him first in our life, obey Him and keep Him first we are promised a restored marriage. One prayer I have been praying is "God I pray for your will in my marriage knowing what you feel about divorce because of what your word says. I pray that many others will be lead to You by this and souls are saved including my wife. Lord if my pain can bring You glory then I am filled with Joy because I know that You are close to the broken hearted. Lord I do ask for a restored marriage but I also ask that You speak to me and keep me close to You as there is nothing more important in the world than being with You. God change me into the person you want me to be so I may better serve You and bring Your name honor and glory. Lord above all else give me the strength to stand for my marriage for as long as you need me to stand. in Jesus name amen."
Now this is a prayer I use and in no way am I saying this will work. I am saying that you need to spend one on one time with your Father in heaven and listen to how you should pray that brings Him glory and honor. God hears us and is working in our lives so be thankful to Him for everything. Start putting Him first in your life and prayers by being sure you are thankful and joyful for Him being near us.
