I wasted half of my day commiting lust

Caden202

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me before I go to bed, I wasted half of my day commiting lust and now it's 2AM. I don't know if Jesus can forgive me Hebrews 10:26: "For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins." I do this sin every day sometimes I can go a couple of days and no matter what I do I can never quit this sin. I must have done something terribly wrong because I have tried everything to quit this sin and nothing has worked out.

We hear the weight of your struggle and the deep sorrow in your heart as you confess this battle with lust. First, let us assure you that the verse you referenced, Hebrews 10:26, is not a declaration that your sin is beyond forgiveness, but rather a warning against willful, unrepentant rebellion. You have come to God in humility, acknowledging your sin and seeking His mercy, and that is the posture of a repentant heart. The enemy would love for you to believe that your sin is too great or that you are beyond grace, but that is a lie. Scripture declares, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Your confession here is evidence of a heart that desires to turn away from sin, and that is where true repentance begins.

Lust is a powerful and destructive sin, one that wars against the soul and seeks to enslave us. Jesus spoke plainly about its severity: "Everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). But He also offered hope: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18). You are not beyond His healing or deliverance. The fact that you are grieved by this sin and longing to be free is evidence of the Holy Spirit at work in you.

You mentioned trying everything to quit this sin, and we understand the frustration of feeling like nothing works. But let us remind you that our strength alone is never enough. Paul himself cried out, "For I don’t know what I am doing. For I don’t practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do" (Romans 7:15). The answer is not in our own efforts but in surrendering to Christ and allowing His power to work in us. We must take practical steps, flee from temptation, guard our eyes and hearts, fill our minds with Scripture, and surround ourselves with accountability. But even more, we must rely on the Holy Spirit to transform us from within. "For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13).

You are not alone in this battle. Many believers struggle with this same sin, and the enemy uses shame to isolate us and keep us from seeking help. But God calls us to walk in the light: "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). Confess this struggle to a trusted brother in Christ, someone who can pray with you and hold you accountable. You do not have to fight this battle alone.

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is struggling with the sin of lust. Lord, we know that this sin is not just a habit, it is a spiritual battle, and we ask for Your mighty hand to break its power over him. We declare that no sin is too great for Your forgiveness, and we thank You that Your mercy is new every morning. Father, we ask that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and holiness. Strengthen him in moments of weakness, and remind him that Your grace is sufficient. Surround him with godly men who can encourage and support him, and give him the courage to flee from temptation.

Lord, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him he is beyond Your grace or that he will never be free. We declare that he is a new creation in Christ, and that the old has passed away. Help him to fix his eyes on You, the author and perfecter of his faith. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a desire to walk in obedience. Father, we ask that You would heal any wounds or emptiness in his heart that the enemy has used to draw him into this sin. Fill him with Your love, Your peace, and Your purpose.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who died to set us free from the power of sin. May Your will be done in his life, and may he experience the freedom and joy that comes from walking in Your ways. Amen.

Do not lose heart, brother. The fact that you are grieved by this sin is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in you. Keep pressing into God, and remember that He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). You are not defined by your struggles but by the One who has already overcome them. Keep fighting the good fight, and know that we are standing with you in prayer.

We hear you, and we’re sitting with you in the weight of this. The shame and the fear you’re carrying, that question about whether Jesus can still forgive you, are things we take seriously. Right now, you’re awake at 2 a.m., exhausted and tangled up in a cycle you desperately want to break. You are not alone in that struggle, and you are not beyond hope.

When you read Hebrews 10:26, it feels like a closed door, but please remember: the very fact that you are broken over this and crying out to God shows that the Holy Spirit hasn’t let you go. Jesus’ sacrifice doesn’t run out because we’ve stumbled again, even if it’s a daily, recurring fall. What you’re describing often goes deeper than a simple choice; it can function like an addiction, and willpower alone fails long-term. That’s not a reason to give up, but a signal that the kind of freedom you need usually comes through humble, honest help from others.

We’ve seen many men walk out of similar darkness, not by trying harder in solitude, but by bringing their battle into safe, grace-filled light. A concrete next step might be to reach out to a trusted pastor or a Christian counselor who understands sexual addiction. You don’t have to keep white-knuckling this alone. Freedom is possible, and God is patient with you.

Let’s pray now:

Jesus, we lift up this weary, hurting person to You. Quiet the voice of condemnation and replace it with the steady truth of Your relentless mercy. Hold them close tonight, even in the mess. Give them the courage to take one brave step toward healing, to find a brother in Christ, a group, a counselor who can walk with them. May they know deep down that they are not defined by their worst moments, but by Your love. Amen.

It is a mercy that you are distressed over your sin, for a seared conscience would slumber on without a pang. The very fact that you cry out at this late hour proves the Spirit has not utterly withdrawn. But you have fixed your eye upon a text that, misunderstood, may drive you to despair. Hebrews 10:26 speaks of a willful, final trampling of Christ’s blood, a settled apostasy that renounces the truth once known. That is not your case. You loathe the sin you fall into; you have not thrown away your shield and fled to the enemy’s camp. A saint may be sorely mauled by a sin he hates, and yet be a true child of God. The devil will quote Scripture to push you into the pit, but I bid you look at the whole counsel of God.

Your sins rise up as mountains, but the blood of Christ is a flood that covers the highest peaks. You speak of wasting half a day, and you fear this is beyond forgiveness. Yet the forgiveness of sin is according to the riches of His grace. God does not pardon in drops, but casts all our transgressions into the depths of the sea. No one sin is so enormous that the atonement cannot swallow it up. He bore our sins in His own body on the tree, not some sins, but the whole foul mass of them. If you come as you are, casting yourself wholly upon Him, He will not cast you out. Do not measure the Lord’s mercy by your misery; measure it by the agony of Gethsemane and the cry of Golgotha. There sin was laid on the Sin-Bearer; there the sword of justice woke against the Shepherd, that the sheep might go free.

You say you have tried everything to quit this sin and nothing has worked. That is because you have tried in your own strength. The Law cannot subdue sin; it only rouses the rebellion of the heart. But you are not under Law, but under Grace. Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under legal bonds but under the sweet reign of divine love. When you see that Christ died for you, that He has abolished your guilt, you find a new motive to hate the evil that pierced Him. No man loathes sin as the forgiven man loathes it. Sin never appears so black as when we behold it against the crimson of the Saviour’s wounds. Pray, then, not merely for victory, but for a deeper glimpse of Calvary. That sight kills the love of sin.

Yet do not think that the war will end before you cross the Jordan. The old nature will bark and bite till you lay down this tabernacle of dust. David fell grievously; Peter denied with oaths; yet they were restored and loved the Lord more fervently. You are not alone in this struggle. The defiling power of sin is a plague to every believer, especially to those who have long walked in fetters before conversion. The clean heart does not come all at once; it is won inch by inch as the Spirit applies the blood of sprinkling and the water of the Word. Do not imagine that to be a Christian is to be perfectly free from inward risings of corruption. That day will come, but not yet. Meantime, the bent of your will must be toward holiness. He who is forgiven hates the sin he still feels. If your soul loathes itself on account of this lust, and you flee to Christ as your only refuge, you are not a hardened rebel but a chastened son.

Now, do not go to your bed with a cold despair. Lift up your heart to the Sin-Bearer. Say with the publican, “God be merciful to me a sinner.” That word “merciful” is really “be propitiated to me”, gaze upon the mercy seat where the blood was sprinkled. Look away from yourself altogether. The goodness of God does not come because you feel sorry enough or make vows; it comes because Jesus stood in your place. Even now, He intercedes for the transgressors. Do not wait for a frame of feeling; trust at once. “According to your faith, be it unto you.”

Watch and pray tomorrow, and the next day. Shun the first steps that lead to the brink. Sin is deceitful; it paints the hook with pleasure and hides the barb. It will whisper, “This once,” until your conscience is cauterised. Therefore, flee youthful lusts, not parleying with them. But if you stumble again, let it not drive you from the cross. Back to the cross! Seven times, seventy times seven, back to the cross! The very instant the blood is applied, sin is forgiven and its defilement begins to fade. God’s love is not a reward for the victorious, but a cordial for the fainting. He knows your frame; He remembers you are dust.

Believe, then, on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved. Rest in the finished work, and sin shall not have dominion over you. May the Holy Spirit seal these words to your aching heart, and give you holy peace before you close your eyes.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your very coming to the church with this confession shows that the light of repentance is not extinguished in you, though the shadow of despair seeks to swallow it. You feel the weight of your sin, and that in itself is no small thing; the best course is to avoid sin entirely, but next to that is to feel it deeply and set your heart on amendment. The enemy now whispers through that verse from Hebrews to convince you that no sacrifice remains, but he twists its meaning. That warning speaks of a soul that has completely turned its back on the truth, trampling the blood of Christ with both eyes open and no desire to return. Is that your condition? You hate what you did, you cry out for help, you have spent half the day in this mire and now you lie sleepless at 2 AM, afraid you are beyond reach. That is not the hard obstinacy of the damned; it is the wounded cry of a man who still believes, who still hopes, even feebly.

Do not let the deceitfulness of sin harden you further. Its deepest deceit is to make you say, I have no hope of recovering myself; what is left? That is not true repentance but pride’s despair. Esau shed tears, but they were tears of wrath and wounded pride, not the self-emptying sorrow that clings only to mercy, and so he found no place of change. Judas felt remorse and yet hanged himself; his end was the hopeless logic of the sin he would not bring to the Physician. But look to Peter. He denied the Lord with oaths and curses, deliberately, after knowing the truth, and yet “he went out and wept bitterly.” That bitter weeping was the door through which forgiveness rushed in, even before the Victim had been slain on the Cross. The sacrifice had not yet been offered, yet the pattern was already set: a broken and contrite heart is not despised.

You say you sin every day, that no matter what you try you cannot break free. This is a fierce war, for the mind itself is the seat of these unruly passions, and it must learn to possess its own vessel in purity and honor. This is not learned in a day; it requires daily battle, cutting off the fuel of lust, idleness, wandering eyes, empty hours. But even while the war goes on, do not let the daily falls convince you that you are shut out. If we sin every day, let us every day approach the throne of grace, entreating and begging. This very persistence will work a backwardness to sin in your soul; the habit of running to God after each fall loosens the devil’s grip and draws down lovingkindness. It is when we stop approaching, when we say it is useless, that we seal our own hardening.

You ask whether Jesus can forgive you. Consider what hope did for you at the first. You were liable for countless sins, under sentence, with nothing to bring but your empty hands and a trust that God would receive you for the sake of His promises. That hope alone saved you, and it is the same hope you must clutch now. If you demand full victory today, if you seek to have everything in this moment, you will let go of hope and drown. The righteousness that comes by faith makes a man blessed not because he has no sin, but because his sins are forgiven, covered, not reckoned. David committed great wickedness and yet, years afterward, he still watered his couch with tears for it, as though it were fresh. He did not let memory of the sin drive him from God but toward God.

This late hour is not too late. Pour out your heart specifically: name the filth, the time wasted, the images indulged, the neglect of prayer that preceded it. Tell the Lord in detail so that you may learn just how great the forgiveness is, and gratitude may strengthen you. Do not lie down in despair but kneel down in hope. The harlots entered the kingdom not because they remained harlots but because they believed, turned, and were cleansed. So it will be with you if you refuse to let go of hope and instead cling to the one Physician who never grows weary of binding up the broken.

I will pray for you now, that this very night the grace of bitter and healing tears may be given you, and that the rising sun may find you still fighting, still trusting, still refusing the darkness of despair.
