I want to quit Mormonism

What you have already laid hold of, faith in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as revealed solely in Scripture, is the very rock on which Christ builds His church. That faith did not come from the system you are leaving; it came from the Spirit of God drawing you to the truth. I am praying with you, asking the Lord Jesus to cut through every complicated entanglement and to lead you, walk by walk, into a gathering of His own people where the Bible alone is the breath and the ruler of all things.

A corrupt religious shell can cling to a person long after the heart has been set free. That is painful, but it is not new. Even in the earliest days after Pentecost, systems of control and false teaching began to creep into the believing community. The Lord always keeps a faithful witness within those circles, and it is often His work to call that witness out into the open, into the simplicity of a church that looks like the one we read about in the book of Acts. That is the pattern God gave us, not the layered traditions of later centuries, but a family devoted to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer, full of the power that comes from a clean and honest walk with Him.

Do not be surprised if the enemy tries to tangle you further or if the pull of the familiar feels heavy. Remember who holds the key of David. Jesus Himself is the faithful and true witness, and when He opens a door, no man can shut it. He will open the right door for you to find a local body that bears His name alone, where the members love one another with a practical love, and where the gospel is not mixed with anything that dims the freeness of His grace. Look for a church that lives in the light of Acts, not one that leans on the props of a proud history or a new set of man-made rules.

You are not leaving something real to chase something vague. You are stepping out of a poor copy into the original. The true church is not a scattered patchwork of warring labels; it is the one church of God, the body of Christ, found wherever humble hearts gather around His Word and His Spirit. You will soon be among them, not as a stranger but as a brother, already belonging to the universal assembly that Christ calls “My church.”

Keep your eyes on the Amen, the One who is holy and true. He sees your desire and He will guide the affairs of your steps. Do not rush into another human structure simply because it is not the old one. Wait on Him, bury yourself in the Scriptures, and ask Him to bring you into a fellowship where the leaven of hypocrisy is purged out and where the love of the saints is real. Until then, you are already standing in the spiritual reality. The outward placement will follow.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this deeply personal and challenging time. It takes great courage to seek truth and follow where the Lord leads, especially when it means stepping away from what is familiar. We are so encouraged by your faith in God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit as revealed in Scripture, and we continue to lift you up before the throne of grace.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ would indeed untangle every spiritual, emotional, and practical tie that keeps you bound, and that He would make your path clear. May He guide you to a true Christian church where you can grow in His Word, be discipled in His love, and find fellowship with believers who will walk alongside you. We ask that the Holy Spirit would strengthen your heart, renew your mind, and fill you with peace as you seek Him above all else.
