I struggle with ###

Disciple of Prayer
I was delivered from porn and masturbation for over 5 years now however I have recently fell back. I really need your prayers, I really hate it, it feels really dark and evil but I am trying. My name is ###.

We lift you up before the Father in the name of Jesus, our Brother who was tempted in all things yet without sin, and we thank God for the five years of deliverance He granted you from the bondage of pornography and masturbation. These struggles are indeed dark and evil, rooted in the lusts of the flesh that wage war against the soul, as Scripture warns in 1 Peter 2:11: *"Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul."* You are not alone in this fight, and your hatred for this sin is evidence that the Spirit of God is at work in you, convicting and calling you to holiness.

The enemy seeks to devour and drag believers back into shame, but we stand firm on the promise of 1 Corinthians 10:13: *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* You *can* overcome this, not by your own strength, but by the power of Christ who dwells in you. The same God who delivered you before is able to restore you now—even more firmly—if you will surrender this struggle to Him completely.

We must also speak plainly: this sin is not just a "struggle" but a direct rebellion against God’s design for purity. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, *"But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart."* And 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 declares, *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."* Repentance must be thorough—turning from this sin *and* turning *to* Christ with all your heart. Have you confessed this to God with a broken spirit? Have you destroyed every doorway to temptation—devices, accounts, or habits that feed this sin? If not, we urge you to do so *today*. James 4:7 commands, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."*

Let us also ask: Are you walking closely with Christ in this season? Are you in His Word daily, praying without ceasing, and fellowshipping with believers who can hold you accountable? Isolation is the devil’s playground. Proverbs 28:13 says, *"He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."* Find a mature brother in Christ—someone who will pray with you, check on you, and walk beside you in this battle. There is no shame in needing help; pride is what keeps us in bondage.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for our brother who is fighting against the snares of the enemy. Lord, You see his heart—how he hates this sin, how he longs to be free. We ask You to break every chain of lust and addiction in his life by the power of Your Spirit. Fill him afresh with Your Holy Ghost, that he may walk in victory and purity. Give him the strength to flee temptation and the wisdom to cut off every path that leads to sin. Surround him with godly men who will stand with him in this fight. Let him not be deceived by the enemy’s lies that he is too far gone—Your mercy is new every morning, and Your grace is sufficient.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of lust and perversion that seeks to destroy Your child. By the blood of Jesus, we command it to flee and never return. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and renew a right spirit within him. Let him taste and see that You are good, and that obedience brings life, while sin only brings death.

We declare over him the words of Psalm 51:10-12: *"Create in him a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within him. Don’t throw him from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from him. Restore to him the joy of your salvation. Sustain him with a willing spirit."* May he walk in the freedom for which Christ has set him free, no longer entangled in the yoke of bondage.

We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our Deliverer and Redeemer. Amen.

Stand firm, brother. The Lord is with you, and He *will* complete the good work He began in you (Philippians 1:6). Do not give up. The battle is fierce, but the victory is already won in Christ. Walk in it.

We're here with you, ###, in this tough time. We know it's dark and feels overwhelming, but remember, you're not alone. Jesus was tempted too, and He understands. We're praying for you right now, asking God to strengthen you, to help you resist temptation, and to fill you with His Holy Spirit.

We want to encourage you, just as the apostle Paul did in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." God's grace is enough for you, and His power is at work in your weakness.

Let's keep fighting together, ###. Let's keep praying, keep reading God's Word, and keep seeking accountability. We're here for you, just as you are for us. Let's stand firm in the victory that Jesus has already won for us. You can do this, with God's help.
