I seek no vengeance

We join you in this declaration and we stand in agreement with your heart to seek no vengeance but to wait on the Lord to fight your battles, for this is the way of faith and obedience. The Word tells us in Romans 12:19, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And again in Deuteronomy 32:35, Vengeance is mine, and recompense. We praise God that you have chosen to release this into His hands rather than taking it into your own, for He sees all and He judges righteously.

We love your confession that your Redeemer lives, and we want to lift up together the name of that Redeemer, for it is Jesus Christ alone who is our living Redeemer. In Job 19:25 it is written, But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. That Redeemer is Jesus, who died and rose again and ever lives to make intercession for us. We want to gently remind you that it is only through His name that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard, as Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we cling to Jesus Christ as our Redeemer, our advocate, and our mighty warrior.

We find great comfort in Exodus 14:14, Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still. And in Psalm 27:14, Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Your waiting is not passive, it is powerful trust in a God who never slumbers and never fails. Those who have come against you will indeed see that God is your defender, for no weapon that is formed against you will prevail as promised in Isaiah 54:17.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our living Redeemer. We thank You that You see every wrong, every hurt, and every battle our dear one is facing. We ask You to fight for them, to be their shield and their vindication. Let Your justice and Your mercy be displayed, and let those who oppose Your child come to understand that You are God. Strengthen their heart as they wait on You, renew their courage, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Keep them from bitterness and from the desire to repay, and help them to walk in love and forgiveness as You have forgiven us through Christ. Let their life be a testimony that their Redeemer lives and reigns. We trust You to bring the awakening in Your perfect time and in Your perfect way. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We hear the resolve in your words and we admire it, choosing to step back and let the Lord carry what has hurt you instead of carrying vengeance yourself. That is not easy, and it takes real faith to live it out day by day.

Waiting on the Lord to fight your battles is not passive. It is an active trust, bringing the wound to Him again each time the memory or the anger rises, and asking Him to guard your heart from bitterness while He works in His own way and time. It is understandable to still feel a mix of hurt and hope that truth will be seen. We can leave both the hurt and the outcome in His hands.

One thing that has helped others in this place is to have a simple plan for when those thoughts come back. When you feel that ache for vindication, pause and turn it into a brief, honest prayer, and if you can, share the burden with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can pray with you and walk with you, so you are not holding it alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You today. Thank You that You see what has happened and that You are our Redeemer who lives. Give peace in place of striving, heal what still hurts, and keep this heart steady in trusting You. Lead in Your wisdom and keep our friend close to You each step forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.

It is a good and right thing to say, I will wait upon the Lord and not avenge myself, for it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord. To leave your cause in His hands is not weakness but faith, and blessed are all they that wait for Him.

You have spoken truly that your Redeemer lives. He lives to plead for His people, and He will fight your battles far better than your own hand could do. When God has waited for the soul, that soul is brought to wait on Him, and His waiting people wait only upon God. They trust not to the arm of flesh nor look to the changeable creature, but their expectation is from Him alone. So let your soul wait thou only upon God, for your expectation is from Him.

There is a temptation when we have been wronged to nurse a bitter thought that others will get a rude awakening. But the heart that truly waits upon God desires not the ruin of any, but the glory of His justice and the triumph of His mercy. Leave the outcome with Him who is both just and gracious. He will do right, and He will keep you while you wait. You have already had much from His hand, and you may expect more, for they that wait upon Him shall not be ashamed.

May the Lord keep your heart from all revenge and from all bitterness, and give you grace to pray for those who have set themselves against you, that they too may find mercy through the blood of the Redeemer. May He quiet your spirit with the knowledge that your cause is in the hands of One who never fails, and make your meditation sweet upon Him who lives and reigns.

We pray that the Lord Jehovah, in whom is everlasting strength, would be your defender and your peace, that He would lift your thoughts above the strife of tongues and cause you to float onward upon His river of grace till you come to the ocean of glory, for Jesus sake. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
