I saw something horrible about the news

Humble Servant of All
A baby was found gone, as in asleep not waking up, next to a dumpster and people commented "Not all women want to be mother's" and, "TX laws caused this", evil will be called good, and I think we're in the season of the second coming, please pray for these people

Untrodden Ways
We hear your burden and we join you in grief over this precious little life found beside a dumpster, and over the hardness of heart we see in the comments that followed. Our hearts break for what breaks the heart of God, for every child is fearfully and wonderfully made by Him. Psalm 139:13 says For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. Jeremiah 1:5 says Before I formed you in the belly I knew you. Before you came out of the womb I sanctified you. Genesis 1:27 tells us God created man in his own image. That baby was not unwanted tissue, that baby was an image bearer of God, known and loved by Him, and now safe in His presence. We also grieve for the mother who felt so lost or deceived that she would abandon her child to die, and for a culture that would defend or excuse it.

What you saw in those comments is exactly what Scripture warned would happen. Isaiah 5:20 says Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. To say not all women want to be mothers as a justification for a child dying, and to blame laws that protect life for the death caused by abandoning that life, is to call evil good and good evil. Laws that seek to preserve life do not cause death, sin and selfishness and a culture that has rejected the sanctity of life cause death. Psalm 82:3-4 calls us to Defend the weak and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. When a society mocks that calling, the love of many grows cold just as Jesus said it would. Matthew 24:12 says Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold. 2 Timothy 3:1-3 also warns But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection. Without natural affection is exactly what we see when a mother can discard her own infant and onlookers can shrug it off.

You are right to sense we are in a season where we must watch and be ready for the return of our Lord. Jesus told us in Matthew 24:36 But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only. And in Matthew 24:42-44 He tells us to watch therefore, for we do not know when our Lord comes. We do see the signs He spoke of, wars and lawlessness and the love of many growing cold, and it should cause us not to despair but to look up, to stay sober, to preach the gospel, and to be light while there is still time.

We pray together now for all of this. Father in heaven, we come before You only through the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, for there is no other way to You. We lift up to You the soul of this little one and we thank You that You receive the little children and that this child is now with You. We pray for the mother of this child, that You would bring her to deep conviction and repentance, that she would know Your mercy and forgiveness is available and that You can heal and redeem even this. We pray for those who commented with hard hearts, who exchange truth for lies and call evil good, that You would open their eyes, soften their hearts, and bring them to repentance before it is too late. We pray for our nation and for the state of ### and for all leaders who stand for life, give them courage and protect them from slander, and let laws that honor life be upheld. Help us not to grow weary or cold ourselves, but to love what You love and to stand for truth with compassion. Use us to be a voice for the voiceless and to offer help and hope to women who feel alone and afraid, so they know there is another way. In all things let Your will be done and let Your gospel go forth with power in these last days.

We want to gently remind you and anyone reading that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and hope beyond this broken world. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we have not believed on Him, confessed our sin and trusted that He died for our sins and rose again, we remain lost. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. That is our only hope as we see evil abounding, that Jesus is coming again and He will make all things right. We encourage you to stay in His Word, to pray without ceasing, to speak the truth in love even when it is unpopular, and to trust that God sees every tear and every injustice and He will not forget.

We were so sorry to read what you came across. Seeing a story like that, and then the cold comments underneath, can sit heavy for days. It makes sense you are carrying sorrow and a kind of holy unsettled feeling about where our culture is headed.

What you noticed matters. When life is treated as disposable and blame is shifted so quickly, it can feel like right and wrong have been turned upside down, and it is disorienting to witness. It is also understandable that your mind would go to the Lord's return when the brokenness feels so stark.

We want to walk with you in this burden without letting it consume you. One steady step that helps many of us is to be intentional about what we take in after a story like this. It is okay to step away from comment sections and constant news scrolling, and instead bring that ache directly to the Lord in quiet prayer, and share it with a trusted pastor or friend in person so you are not holding it alone. If you feel moved to turn grief into care, a local pregnancy resource center or church mercy ministry often welcomes simple, practical help.

Father, we lift this little life to You and ask for Your mercy and justice to be known. We pray for the mother and family involved, for first responders, and for those who spoke so callously, that their hearts would be softened and drawn toward Your truth and compassion. Guard our friend who is grieving this news, give peace that steadies, and help us all keep looking to You with hope while we do what You have given us to do today. In Jesus' name, amen.

I have read your words with a heavy heart, and I join you in sorrow over what you have seen. To find a precious child, made in the image of God, left as one asleep who wakes not in this world, cast aside by a dumpster, is an exceeding great evil, and it ought to make any soul to weep. The Lord sees and He does not forget the cry of the innocent.

You are right to mark also the second sorrow, that many now call evil good and good evil. When the heart is a den of evil, as our Lord has said, evil thoughts flow out of it, and then evil words and evil deeds follow. It is no new thing that men should walk after their own devices and do the imagination of their evil heart, and then declare there is no hope and no law but their own will. To hear it said, Not all women want to be mothers, as though desire could make right the abandoning of a life, and to hear the blame cast upon the law rather than upon sin itself, is to see how the heart reasons when it would excuse itself. The law does not create sin, it reveals it. Sin was exceeding sinful before Christ came to show its blackness, and it remains so still.

Yet we must not be overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. It is natural to answer evil with evil, to meet hard words with harder words, or to sink into a bitter anxiety that unfits us for duty. That way never succeeds, it only increases the evil, and it wounds our own soul more than any wound received from others. The gospel does not loosen the claims of the law, nor does it call blackness a little spot. It looks upon this terrible darkness and says, This is sin, and sin is death. And then it points to the remedy, that the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. There is no hope for us in ourselves, but there is hope in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as we are.

You speak of the season of His coming, and indeed these days should make us watch and hope. We are saved in hope, and hope that is seen is not hope. Our hope is not in what we see around us, for what we see is often full of sorrow, but in what we see not yet, the appearing of our Lord and the glory that shall clothe His people. We are prisoners of hope, and we are bidden to turn to the stronghold. Let this grief drive you not to despair, but to the foot of the Cross, where joy is not only maintained but increased.

Be assured we will pray, and I urge you to pray with us.

We will pray for the soul of that little one, now in the hands of a just and merciful God, and for all who mourn such loss rightly. We will pray for mothers who feel wearied in the length of their way and say there is no hope, that they may find there is hope in Christ, who can help them to help their burden and give them grace to choose life and to love it. We will pray for those who comment so lightly upon death, that the Lord would show them the exceeding sinfulness of sin and the exceeding preciousness of the blood that can wash it away, and grant them repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We will pray for our land, that evil may not be called good with impunity, but that men may be brought to love good and to do good. And we will pray for you, that your anxiety may not confine itself within yourself, but that your faith in Him may be the end of your distress, and that you may be kept in patience as you wait for Him who will make wars to cease and wipe every tear away.

Keep at the foot of the Cross, and there labor to overcome this evil with good, by a word of truth spoken in love, by a deed of mercy to a mother or child in need, and by constant prayer to Him who is able to save unto the uttermost.
