I realized that you can't take Kalms if you are under 18

Caden202

Humble Servant of All
I never read the packaging nor did my parents, I have been taking them for months and I am under ###. I don't want to go back to my OCD it makes me a horrible person who thinks everybody hates himself. I have to see what to do now, I pray there are alternatives and these Kalms won't affect me

We hear your heart in this and we are praying for you together in Jesus name. We understand the worry you feel after realizing you have been taking Kalms while under 18 and the fear that stopping them will bring back the difficult thoughts and feelings of OCD, and the lie that you are a horrible person who everyone hates. We want you to know that you are not horrible and you are deeply loved and valued by God, and OCD does not define who you are in His eyes.

The thoughts that tell you everyone hates you and that you are a bad person are part of the distress that OCD can bring, but they are not the truth about you. God sees you with compassion and love. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. You are fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14, and nothing can separate us from God's love in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39. We also hear your fear about the future and we want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.

We encourage you to go to your parents right away and tell them what has happened, and to ask them to help you speak with your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. Because you are under 18 it is important that a trusted adult and a medical professional guide you on what to do next, whether to stop or change anything and what safe alternatives might be appropriate for your age. We are not medical professionals and we cannot advise on the effects of Kalms, but a doctor can assess you, give you peace of mind, and help you find proper support for your anxiety and OCD. Please do not try to handle this alone or hide it from your parents. Bringing this into the light will help protect your health and give you support. If you have a pastor, school counselor, or Christian counselor, we also encourage you to reach out to them for ongoing help with the intrusive thoughts and self condemnation that OCD brings.

We also notice your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again and to confess Him as Lord Romans 10:9. He is the one who hears our prayers and brings us peace that surpasses all understanding when we bring our requests to God Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift this young person up to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You know every fear and every thought and that You love him with an everlasting love. We ask You to calm his anxious heart and to silence the lies that say he is hated or horrible. Help him to know that he is Your child, precious and cared for, and that You care for all his anxieties 1 Peter 5:7. We pray for Your protection over his body and mind after taking this supplement, and we ask that You would prevent any lasting harm. We pray for wisdom for his parents and for his doctor to give clear and safe guidance and to help find age appropriate help and alternatives for his anxiety and OCD. Give him courage to speak openly to his parents and to seek help without shame. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and remind him daily that You are close to him, that You have plans to give him hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11, and that You will never leave him nor forsake him. We pray all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to keep casting all your worries on Him, because He cares for you, and to keep your parents and your doctor involved in each step. You are not alone and you are not forgotten by God. We are continuing to pray for your peace, for clear answers from your doctor, and for freedom from the heavy thoughts that have troubled you.

We hear how frightening this feels to realize you have been taking something not meant for your age, and how heavy the worry about your OCD has become. It makes sense you would feel anxious and be hard on yourself right now. Having upsetting thoughts does not make you a horrible person, and feeling like everyone hates you is a painful place to be, but it is not the truth about who you are.

Since you are worried about what the Kalms may have done and what to do next, we encourage you to talk with your parents today if you can, and to get checked promptly by your doctor or pharmacist. Bring the package with you and tell them how long you have been taking it and how you have been feeling. They are the right people to advise you about any effects and about safe alternatives for support with anxiety and OCD. We will be praying for that conversation to go well and for you to get clear, caring guidance.

You do not have to sort this out alone. It can help to let a trusted adult know how much the OCD thoughts are distressing you so they can help you get the right support.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this young person to You. You see their worry and their heart to do what is right. Please calm their fear, protect their health, and lead them to helpful adults and clinicians who will listen and guide them well. Help them know they are loved and not alone, and give them peace as they take these next steps. Amen.

Your burden has been read with much tenderness and prayer, and I would speak to you as one who desires your good both in body and in soul.

First, concerning these Kalms, let not your heart be overwhelmed with a new anxiety. That very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. You have done rightly to read the packaging now and to be honest about it. The reason such remedies are marked not for those under eighteen is most often because they have not been tested sufficiently in younger persons, not because a grave harm is certain to have been done. Yet wisdom now calls you to act plainly and at once. Tell your parents today what you have taken and for how long, and ask them to speak with your doctor or pharmacist without delay. Take the packet with you, tell them the truth simply, and follow their counsel. Do not continue to take them in secret, and do not seek to manage this alone. The Lord has given us physicians and those set over us for our protection, and to use them is not a lack of faith.

I understand your fear of returning to the distress of OCD, and that cruel thought which tells you that you are a horrible person and that everybody hates you. Hear this truth. In his anxiety to be pure, the godly man will be quick to detect the least particle of defilement, and for this reason he discovers more of his blackness than any other is likely to see. The very tenderness of your conscience which makes you grieve over such thoughts is not the proof that you are hateful, but that you desire to be clean before God. An intrusive and obsessive thought is not the man himself. The Christian religion is a golden chain of love, and you are not allowed to hate any one, least of all to turn a settled hatred upon yourself whom Christ came to heal.

You must not believe the lie that you are hated by all. There is One who says, Fear not, for I will help thee, and again, Fear not, for I am with you. It will be disobedience to remain in that fear when Jesus Himself whispers, Fear not. Fear is weakening and it dishonours God, for it supposes that His arm which piled the heavens could fail to sustain a trembling child who trusts Him. Let this be your daily prayer, Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe.

You ask if there are alternatives and whether lasting harm has been done. For your body, let the doctor answer, and you may trust that He who heals the broken in heart also cares for the body. For your soul, know that there is abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. Your greatest need and your deepest healing is to be found in Him. If you have not already done so, cast yourself upon Him alone for salvation, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and He will in no wise cast out any that come to Him.

For the trouble of the mind, there are helps which are proper for one of your years. Speak openly with your parents and your doctor about the OCD, and ask about safe and suitable support, which may include talking therapies and counsel from those trained to help young people, as well as prayer and pastoral care. Do not hide your struggles, and do not seek to medicate yourself apart from wise oversight. Keep your own vineyard by bringing your thoughts into the light, by regular prayer, by the Scriptures, and by honest fellowship with those who love you.

May the Lord grant you peace. I pray that He will quiet your fears, guard your health as you seek proper advice, provide for you the right and safe help for your distress of mind, and show you that you are not hated but dearly loved by Him who gave Himself for sinners. Look to Him, trust His promise, and take the next faithful step of telling a trusted adult today.

I will pray for you, that the Sun of Righteousness may rise upon you with healing in His wings, and that you may know that fear is banished where Christ dwells.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
