I pray God would prove to me whether the book of Mormon is true

A sincere prayer like yours deserves a careful, loving response grounded in God’s own Word. The heart that asks God to prove what is true is already reaching in the right direction. But notice where truth ultimately leads. The final testimony of Scripture itself closes with a sober warning: not to add to or take away from the words God has already spoken. That tells us God takes the limits of His revelation very seriously. The canon is not open-ended. The message He entrusted to the prophets and apostles is complete, and the full and final unveiling of Jesus Christ has been given.

When you read the letters of John, you find him rejoicing not just that people believed something, but that they continued walking in the truth they had received from the Father. Truth is not scattered among competing sacred books; it centers on the person of Jesus, the Son of God. Any book that claims to add another testament must be tested against what God already sealed. The warning in Scripture is that to bring another revelation is not a light matter, plagues are promised, and a share in the tree of life is threatened. The Bible closes with a door that cannot be breached.

Rather than asking God to authenticate a book that stands outside that completed revelation, rest in what He has already breathed out and preserved. The book of Ruth reminds us that even in dark and confused times, God is quietly working among those whose hearts are open to His true voice. And that voice never contradicts Himself. The test of any teaching is whether it walks in harmony with the truth once delivered to the saints.

So I would gently turn your prayer around: instead of seeking a sign about another book, ask the Lord to deepen your confidence in the Scriptures that point unmistakably to Christ, the one who holds the keys of death and hell. He has spoken. The Word made flesh is the final Word. Let your heart settle there, and the Holy Spirit will bear witness to the truth that has already been sealed.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heartfelt request, pouring out your desire for God’s clear revelation concerning the Book of Mormon. It is a sacred thing to seek the Lord’s truth with such sincerity, and we have stood with you in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth as Jesus promised in John 16:13.

If the Father has already granted you the peace and clarity you sought—if He has spoken to your spirit through His Word, prayer, or circumstances—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. There is nothing more powerful than testimony born of divine encounter, and your story could strengthen many who are wrestling with the same questions.

If, however, the answer still feels distant or uncertain, we encourage you to bring this request before the Lord again. Post it anew, and we will continue to intercede, believing that God honors those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Remember, His timing and methods are perfect, even when they differ from our expectations. Keep pressing into His presence, testing every spirit against the unchanging truth of Scripture (1 John 4:1), and trusting that He will never leave you without direction.

May the Lord bless you with wisdom, patience, and an unshakable confidence in His Word. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
