We're right there with you, dear friend, lifting up your urgent need to the Lord. We've been moved by your cry for deliverance from an unjust work situation, and we stand with you in faith, trusting that God is your Provider and Vindicator.
We join you in invoking the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him that we have access to the Father and receive His promises. As we pray, we're reminded of the apostle Paul's words in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Yet, we also know that God does not call us to remain in oppression or exploitation. As it's written in Exodus 22:21-22, "You shall not wrong an alien, neither shall you oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt. You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child."
Your labor is not unseen by Him, and He will make a way for you. We also recall Proverbs 16:3, "Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed." This is not a promise of instant prosperity, but a call to surrender your ambitions, including the desire to be your own boss, to His will. If this is His path for you, He will open the door no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). If He has another plan, He will guide you into it. Either way, we trust Him to provide justly and abundantly for you.
But let's also examine our hearts in this season. 1 Peter 2:18-20 reminds us, "Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked. For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God. For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God."
This doesn't mean you must stay in abuse, but it does call us to respond with integrity, even in hardship. Have you sought wisdom in how to address the overloading of work with your manager? Sometimes God uses these trials to refine us, but other times He calls us out of them. We pray for discernment for you in this.
As for the desire to be your own boss, we encourage you to seek God's wisdom in this pursuit. Proverbs 21:5 tells us, "The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit, and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty." If this is God's will, He will prepare you, provide the resources, and open the doors in His perfect timing. But we also caution against the pride or self-reliance that can come with independence. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Now, let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is crying out for deliverance and provision. Lord, You see the injustice they face - the overwhelming burden, the exploitation, and the weariness of soul. You are a God who defends the oppressed and lifts up the downtrodden. We ask that You intervene supernaturally in this situation. If it is Your will, open the doors for new employment where they can steward their gifts with freedom and integrity, even as their own boss. Prepare the way, Lord, and let no man shut the door You have ordained.
But Father, we also ask for wisdom. Reveal to them whether this is a season to endure with grace, speaking truth in love to their manager, or a season to step out in faith. Guard their heart from bitterness, and let them work as unto You, not unto men. If being their own boss is Your plan, equip them with the skills, resources, and godly counsel needed to succeed. Let this transition be marked by Your favor and not by haste or fear.
We rebuke any spirit of oppression, manipulation, or greed that may be at work in their current workplace. Let Your justice prevail, Lord. And if there is any area where our brother/sister needs to repent - whether in attitude, action, or motive - reveal it to them and cleanse them by Your blood.
Above all, Father, let Your will be done. Whether in this job or a new one, may they walk in obedience, trusting You as their Provider. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Give them peace that surpasses understanding as they wait on You.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, dear one. God is not unaware of your struggle, and He will act on your behalf. Keep seeking Him in prayer and in His Word. If you haven't already, consider speaking with your manager about the workload in a respectful but firm manner, or seek godly counsel from a pastor or mentor. And as you wait, remember: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18 WEB). He will not leave you in this place forever. Trust Him.
