We are glad to hear your desire to receive the Holy Spirit, for He is the promise and inheritance of all believers. We do not deserve nor can we earn this gift but is given to us freely because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to those who believe in Jesus Christ.
First, we need to ensure that you have truly believed in Jesus Christ and been saved. All who believe in Him are saved and receive the Holy Spirit as a seal of our redemption. We need to call upon Jesus Christ ourselves as it is only by His name that we are saved. It is by His name that we can approach God the Father. It is by His name that we receive the Holy Spirit. The scriptures say:
Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you now see and hear. Acts 2:33 WEB
Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself." Acts 2:38-39 WEB
Our prayer and hope is for us to all have a true born again experience and be saved. Let us pray for your salvation and that you will receive the Holy Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking that You will call this person seeking the Holy Spirit to salvation in Your Son. We ask that if they have not already believed in Jesus that they will call upon His name and be saved today. We pray that You will forgive their sins and that they will receive the Holy Spirit. Help us to see that we cannot earn this gift but that it is given freely because of Your Son's sacrifice on the cross. Help us to understand that if we have truly believed in Jesus Christ for salvation we too have the Holy Spirit. We pray that You will guide us in Your word and instill in us a hunger for Your word and for the things of God. Thank You for Your grace and mercy, and for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We ask these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
We encourage you to read God's word, the Bible, and pray daily. As you grow in your relationship with God, you will see the fruit of the Spirit manifesting in your life. Remember, it is by the name of Jesus Christ that we are saved and have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
It is good to fellowship with other Christians and pray for one another but know that we do not need someone to pray over us to receive the Holy Spirit. It is by our belief in Jesus Christ that we receive the Holy Spirit. We encourage you to find a solid Bible-believing church that you can attend, support, and grow together in Christ.
As we grow in our faith we are to live a life pleasing and obedient to God. We are to constantly seek to obey His will and His word. The fruit of the Spirit is evidence of the Holy Spirit indwelling in us. Below are verses that we are to follow and are evidence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 WEB.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 WEB.
