Your note has come before us, though it contains no distinct petition to lay at the Mercy Seat, and we would not leave you without a word of counsel and prayer.

We understand your words to mean that no request was clearly set forth, and therefore we have no title or burden to carry in the form you mentioned. Yet this need not restrain prayer before God, for every day and every part of the day should be an occasion for crying, Lord, help me, teach me, guide me. If you have a burden upon your heart, we entreat you to bring it forth in plainness of speech, as Jacob did when he spread his case before the Lord with humility of spirit and pressed his suit with holy arguments taken from the promise itself.

Be assured that we count it a privilege to plead for others, for intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears and it is exceedingly prevalent.
