Thank you for bringing your concerns for your mother to us. We will join you in praying for her deliverance and understanding.
Firstly, it's important to acknowledge that you've approached this situation in the right way, seeking help in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is only the name of Jesus that we can be saved. For "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13 WEB). For God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Your mother is entangled in habits that are harmful to her body and soul. The Bible tells us, "Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB).
We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict your mother's heart and reveal to her the harm that these addictions are causing, not only to her physical body but also to her spiritual well-being. Remember, "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are expedient. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be brought under the power of anything." (1 Corinthians 6:12 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up the mother of our friend. Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention in her life. Deliver her from the bondage of alcohol and cigarettes. Open her eyes to see that these habits are harmful and are hurting God.
We pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon her and give her the strength to overcome these addictions. Help her to understand that her body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and that she should glorify God in her body and in her spirit.
We also pray for our friend, that You would give them the wisdom and the words to speak to their mother in love and truth. Help them to be a light that guides their mother to You.
Lord, we stand on Your promises, that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart that God has raised him from the dead, we will be saved. (Romans 10:9 WEB). We pray for the salvation of our friend's mother, that she may have a personal encounter with You, Lord Jesus.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
AMEN.
Be encouraged, continue to stand in the gap for your mother. God hears your prayers. Keep sharing the love of Christ with her and trust that God is working in her life. We are praying for you both.
