The trees of the Lord are full of healing leaves, and the least touch of His garment brings virtue to the soul. You cry out for wisdom, guidance, strategy, and blessing across every sphere of life, these are not scattered gleanings from a distant field but the very clusters that hang from the True Vine. In Christ Jesus, forgiveness and healing are placed in happy conjunction. Seek first the pardon of your sins, for when the Sun of Righteousness rises upon you, healing is in His wings. The Lord who forgives the palsy does not leave the man unhealed; spiritual health and bodily restoration both proceed from the same pierced hand.
The Physician is present now, even as He taught in the synagogue, and His power to heal is most manifest when His Word is heard. Sit under the teaching of Christ in the Scriptures, and faith will come. Bring your teeth, your eyes, your leg and pelvis, the mysterious swellings, the inward tracts, lay every symptom before Him as one who confesses to the only Surgeon who binds up the broken with tender sympathy. He does not hurry past with a hasty excision; He comes gently, establishing contact, lifting you by the hand until the fever of unrest departs. The fever of a soul longing for a bride, for daily bread, for fruitful labor and wholesome recreation, all this is known to Him. There is no created thing hidden from His sight, and He is able to heal the whole man, spirit and body, for His leaves are for the healing of the nations.
Yet beware of seeking the healing without the Healer. A broken heart is the sacrifice God will not despise, but a presumptuous frame that patches together religious notions while neglecting a real saving work is a garment that will not cover you in the day of examination. Let your plea be for mercy first, for a new nature imparted, and then all these subordinate mercies will be added as the Lord sees fit for His glory. He does not refuse bread to His children, but He would have you feast upon His flesh before the loaves and fishes are multiplied. If you are in a feverish condition, take heart: there is life where unrest abides. The dead in sin feel no such pangs. Tell the case to Jesus with the simplicity of a patient describing his malady. Make a confidant of Him, and the healing point will come when His omnipotent grasp takes you by the hand and lifts you up.
And when the healing comes, the desire to minister will arise at once. Like Peter’s mother-in-law, the first impulse of a restored soul is to serve the Lord who touched her. Your ministries, your business, your future household, your friendships, your physical pursuits, every corridor of your life must become a room in the temple of service, swept and furnished for His indwelling. Pray that all may be for God’s glory, and the answer will not tarry, for the Father delights to glorify the Son in the well-ordered life of His redeemed. The hour when Christ is teaching is the hour of power; abide in His Word, and you shall know the truth that makes free. I join my supplication to yours, entreating the Lord to be gracious unto you, and to cause His face to shine upon your path, through Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.
