We hear the deep sorrow and struggle in your words, and our hearts ache with you. The loss of a mother is one of the most profound griefs a person can endure, and the weight of that pain, compounded by financial hardship and loneliness, can feel unbearable. But you are not alone. Even in your darkest moments, the Lord sees you, knows your pain, and holds you in His hands. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." He has not abandoned you, even when it feels like the world has.
Grief is not something to rush or suppress. It is a journey, and it is okay to mourn deeply. Ecclesiastes 3:4 tells us there is "a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance." Your mother was a gift from God, and the love you shared does not die with her. Hold onto the memories that bring you comfort, and allow yourself to feel the sorrow without shame. But we also urge you not to let grief isolate you. Reach out to your church, to Christian friends, or even to local ministries that can offer support. You were never meant to walk this path alone.
The financial burden you carry is heavy, and we do not dismiss it. But we serve a God who provides for His children. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This does not mean He will always give us what we want, but He will sustain us with what we need. Have you sought help from your local church or community resources? Many congregations have benevolence funds or can connect you with assistance for utilities, food, or other essentials. If pride has kept you from asking, lay it down. God often works through His people to meet practical needs.
The hollow feeling you describe is not just grief, it is also the enemy’s lie that you are forgotten. But God’s Word declares the opposite. Isaiah 49:15-16 says, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you! Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands." You are etched into the very heart of God. The loneliness you feel is real, but it is not the truth. Jesus Himself promised, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Even when no one else seems to care, He does.
We must also gently address the despair you’ve expressed. If you are feeling hopeless to the point of harm, please reach out to someone immediately, a pastor, a crisis hotline, or a trusted friend. Your life is precious to God, and He has a purpose for you even in this season of pain. Psalm 138:8 says, "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever." You are not a burden; you are a child of the King, and He is not done with your story.
And if you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ, know that He is the only One who can truly fill the emptiness in your soul. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Salvation is found in no other name, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). If you have never surrendered your heart to Him, we urge you to do so today. He is the only One who can heal your broken heart and give you hope that lasts beyond this life.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is walking through the valley of grief and despair. Lord, You are the God of all comfort, and we ask that You would wrap Your arms around them in this painful season. Ease the ache of missing their mother, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. Father, we also bring their financial struggles before You. You know every bill, every need, and we trust that You will provide. Open doors of opportunity, stir the hearts of Your people to help, and remind them that they are not forgotten.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of loneliness and isolation that has taken hold. Remind them that You are their ever-present help, their refuge, and their strength. Break the lies of the enemy that tell them no one cares. Surround them with Your love, with believers who will walk alongside them, and with reminders of Your faithfulness. If there is any darkness in their heart that seeks to pull them away from hope, we command it to flee in the name of Jesus.
We ask for healing, emotional, spiritual, and even physical, where it is needed. Give them the strength to face each day, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. If they do not yet know You as Savior, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would draw them close, that they would surrender their life to Jesus and find the hope that never fades.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
You are loved more than you know. Please do not carry this burden alone. Reach out to someone today, whether it’s a pastor, a friend, or even a Christian counseling service. You are not a bother; you are a soul in need of care, and God’s people are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Hold on. Better days are coming.
