Beloved of All
I know that I should not be so focused on the way that I look, but I am struggling to accept the features that God provided for me. I have had many people tell me that I need lip filler, or a nose job, and that my face is too masculine for a woman. I'm only ### and I spend most of the day feeling sorry for myself and it brings me depression, and takes me further from the Lord. It has gotten to the point where I sometimes, shamefully, resent my parents for giving me their genetics as I feel I will never look like other girls and will always be ugly. I know this is narcissistic, I'm sorry.

We hear your heartache and the deep struggle you’re carrying, and we want you to know that your worth is not defined by the opinions of others or even by your own perception of your appearance. The world often measures beauty by fleeting standards, but God’s Word tells us something far more profound: "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well" (Psalm 139:13-14). You are not an accident or a mistake, you are a deliberate, intentional creation of the Most High God, crafted with purpose and love.

The voices telling you to change your lips, your nose, or your face are not speaking truth. They are speaking from a culture that profits from insecurity and distortion. Proverbs 31:30 reminds us, "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised." True beauty radiates from a heart surrendered to Christ, not from the scalpel of a surgeon or the approval of others. When we fixate on outward appearance, we risk missing the beauty of God’s design for us, both inside and out. Your features are not flaws; they are part of the unique masterpiece He is shaping in you.

We must also gently rebuke the spirit of comparison that has taken root in your heart. The enemy delights in whispering lies that make us feel "less than," but 2 Corinthians 10:12 warns, "For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding." You are not called to look like other girls, you are called to look like you, as God intended. Resenting your parents for their genetics is a heavy burden to carry, and it only deepens the pain. Instead, we encourage you to release that resentment through forgiveness and trust in God’s sovereignty. He allowed your heritage to be part of your story, and He will use it for His glory if you let Him.

Your struggle with depression and self-pity is understandable, but it is also a tool the enemy uses to pull you away from the Lord. We urge you to fight back with the truth of Scripture. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things." When negative thoughts about your appearance arise, replace them with this verse. Speak it aloud. Write it down. Meditate on it until it becomes the loudest voice in your mind.

We also want to address the shame you feel about these thoughts. There is no need to apologize for struggling, even the most faithful believers wrestle with doubt and insecurity. But we must bring these struggles to the foot of the cross, where Jesus waits to heal and restore. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." You are not alone in this battle, and you do not have to carry it by yourself. The Lord sees your tears, and He longs to lift the weight from your shoulders.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious daughter of Yours, lifting up her heart and her struggles to You. Lord, we ask that You would open her eyes to see herself as You see her, fearfully and wonderfully made, a masterpiece of Your own hands. Break the chains of comparison and insecurity that have bound her, and replace them with the truth of Your Word. Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell her she is not enough, and we declare that she is more than enough in Christ. Heal the wounds caused by the words of others, and restore her joy in Your presence.

Lord, we ask that You would fill her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help her to release any resentment toward her parents and to trust in Your sovereign plan for her life. Teach her to find her worth in You alone, not in the fleeting standards of this world. Strengthen her faith so that she may walk confidently in the identity You have given her.

We pray for a spirit of gratitude to take root in her heart, that she may see the beauty in Your design for her, both inside and out. Surround her with godly friends and mentors who will speak life into her and remind her of Your truth. And Lord, if there are areas where she has believed the lies of the world, we ask that You would convict her with Your gentle correction and lead her back to Your path.

Above all, we pray that she would draw nearer to You, for in Your presence is fullness of joy. May she find her refuge in You, and may her life reflect the beauty of a heart fully surrendered to Christ. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who makes all things new. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, allowing it to renew your mind and transform your thinking. Memorize verses that speak to your worth in Christ, such as Ephesians 2:10: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them." Surround yourself with believers who will uplift you and remind you of God’s truth. And if the depression feels overwhelming, do not hesitate to seek godly counsel or professional help, there is no shame in asking for support.

Remember, the world may not always see your beauty, but God does. And His opinion is the only one that truly matters. You are His beloved, and He is shaping you into a vessel of honor for His glory. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you into the fullness of life He has prepared for you.

It’s painful to feel trapped in a body you didn’t choose, especially when comments from others keep feeding the message that you don’t measure up. That kind of pressure can turn every glance in the mirror into an argument with yourself, and when depression creeps in, it drains hope and makes acceptance feel impossible. We want you to know we hear you, and what you’re carrying isn’t narcissistic; it’s real hurt that’s weighing on your heart and mind.

One thing that can help right now is to take the weight of those critical voices down a notch. People who tell a ###-year-old that she needs lip filler or surgical changes aren’t speaking truth or kindness over your life, they’re parroting a culture that reduces women to a checklist of features. You don’t owe that system your peace. It might be worth stepping back from acquaintances or media that amplify those comparisons, and instead finding even one mature, safe person at church or in your family who can remind you of what is lasting: a gentle and quiet spirit, a heart that loves God, the way you care for others. You’re not alone in this fight.

Because the depression feels so heavy, we’d also gently encourage you to talk with a doctor or a Christian counselor about what you’ve been experiencing. That isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a wise step when sadness begins to steal whole days and distances you from the Lord. There’s no shame in reaching for professional support, and it can make a real difference alongside prayer.

Jesus, we ask You to quiet the lies that have been shouted at this young woman. Lift the fog of depression so she can breathe again. Give her eyes to see herself with the dignity and intention You crafted. Surround her with voices that speak Your love, not the world’s empty standards. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A SENSE OF UNWORTHINESS FINDS A FIT COMPANION IN STRONG FAITH IN CHRIST. If you have no confidence in yourself, your soul is one great vacuum and you can hold more of Christ. Believe the more in Christ because you cannot, in any degree, believe in yourself. I tell you, Christian, you are complete in Him, you are perfect in Christ Jesus!

Do not think so much about yourself. That dog-hole of selfishness can never afford you any comfort. If you come to Christ, and believe in Him, here is a text that applies to you! God says, "Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honorable, and I have loved you." Our glorifying is that our life is not dependent on ourselves, but is safe in our Lord.

Christ has set us free! Therefore let us not go back into bondage, or sit still as though we were in prison, let us rejoice in our liberty this very hour. Get Christ in you curing your sin, Christ in you filling your soul with love to virtue and holiness, bathing your heart in comfort and refining it with heavenly inspirations, then will you know the Lord! Suppose one of the members of the mystical body of Christ should die, then from that moment, with reverence be it spoken, Christ is not a complete Christ.

What were the head without the body? A most ghastly sight. Christ in you, that is the cream of the matter, the honey of the honeycomb! Christ believed in, Christ possessed, Christ experienced, Christ in you, this is worth a world!

Your sorrow over your features shows that you have allowed the world’s fleeting fancies to paint a false image before your eyes, a lifeless form that has no power to save or to give true beauty. You are fretting over an appearance that is God’s own handiwork, as if He had erred, when Scripture says the body and soul are His works and without blame. The face you see in the mirror is not an accident of genetics to be resented against your parents, but a creature shaped by the Creator who makes nothing carelessly. Will you call ugly what He has made, and thus insult the Artist?

Consider what real ugliness is. I have often spoken of souls that are tombs, whitewashed on the outside but full of dead bones and covetousness within. A woman can have lips and a nose that the world praises, yet if her heart is eaten up with vanity, envy, and self-pity, she is a grave, not a living icon of Christ. The depression that you describe is not sent to you because of a masculine face; it is the soul’s sickness from measuring itself against an idol. The craving for lip filler and a different nose is a kind of sacrifice offered to the demon of fashion, a sacrifice God does not desire. He does not want you to mutilate what He formed in the womb; He wants a contrite heart that trusts His goodness.

You are a member of Christ’s body. Do you think membership in that holy body depends on the curve of a cheek or the shape of a jaw? When Christ took on flesh, He came “in like manner” with us, sharing fully in our humble humanity. The prophets foretold nothing of His physical beauty; He had no stately form that we should desire Him. Yet He is the very Image of the invisible God, the perfect radiance of the Father. There is the beauty that outshines a thousand heavens, and He imparts that glory to His Church, to every baptized soul united to Him. You are being sculpted not by a surgeon’s knife but by grace into His likeness. Why then do you throw away this dignity for the praise of fools who cannot see past a painted surface?

Do not say, “I will never look like other girls.” What is that but to envy the flock of the world? An image, as I have often reminded my people, can be a dead thing without substance. A painting may be beautiful and lifeless; a woman may have a form of comeliness but be empty of the truth. Faith without works is just such a dead image. Let your works be now to turn from this mirror-worship. Offer God the sacrifice of thanksgiving for your body as it is, and let your beauty be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

When the thought arises, “I resent my parents,” crucify it immediately. They gave you nothing evil; they passed on the life that God appointed. Would you prefer that you had never been born, or born another? That is not far from saying to the Potter, “Why have you made me thus?” Remember Job: “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Shall we receive good from God and not accept the form He chose? Your complaint is not against your mother and father but against divine providence.

Lift up your eyes now. I once asked my flock to look into the starry heaven and imagine the pavement of the age to come, so much more glorious than gold, and the countless angels, and the very throne of the Father. There your body will be transfigured, and no one will say, “too masculine,” for there is neither male nor female in that perfect re-creation, but all are radiant with Christ’s own light. Set your mind on that vision, and the petty measurements of this present age will shrivel into nothing. Spend this day not in self-pity but in visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, or reading the Psalms. Chase away the cloud of depression with deeds of mercy, and you will find the Spirit’s consolation far sweeter than any approval from a mirror. The Lord who made you sees your struggle and will not despise a broken heart. Go in peace, and sin no more with these vain thoughts.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You are not your face. You are not your nose or your lips or the shape of your jaw. You are a spirit, made in the very image of God, living in a body and possessing a consciousness. The body is an instrument, a tent you dwell in for a season. It is not the true you. When God said, “Let us make man in our image,” He was not speaking about bone structure or skin. No one has ever seen God. He never revealed Himself in a permanent human form apart from Jesus Christ, because He did not want us fashioning any image of Him. The likeness you bear is in your spiritual nature: you are a self-determining being with the capacity to love and to choose. That is the image that matters. The body is a garment, and it is temporary.

I hear the ache in your words, and I know the enemy would love for you to stay trapped in this mirror, despising what God in His wisdom chose to give you. But listen to how Scripture frames it: God gives a body as it pleases Him. Right now, in this life, and in the resurrection to come. You did not pick your features. He did. And if He is your exceeding joy, you can trust His pleasure even when your own eyes argue against it. The world pushes you to conform to its hollow standard of beauty, but you are called to present your body as a living sacrifice, consecrated to Him, not to the glare of social approval. That means you stop evaluating your face like a product to be fixed and start using it as a temple for the Holy Spirit.

The depression that settles over you when you feel sorry for yourself is a downward pull on your soul. But God wants to be the health of your countenance. Factor Him in, and the gloom can give way to hope. David was cast down, mourning, feeling forgotten, yet he spoke to his own soul: “Hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise him.” The beauty the Lord desires is inward: a gentle and quiet spirit, the inner beauty of holiness, responses tempered by the Spirit. That is a beauty that deepens with age and will never fade. The body you have now, the one you resent, is not the body you will have forever. You planted a bare grain; God will give it a body as pleases Him. A building from God, eternal in the heavens. This earth-bound frame, with all its perceived flaws, is on a trajectory toward glory.

You mentioned feeling narcissistic, and I am glad you see the danger of self-absorption. The old life of the flesh orbits around me, my look, my worth, my appearance. But Christ died so that you would no longer live for yourself. The miserable loop of self-loathing and self-focus can break when you lift your eyes to the God who made you for fellowship with Himself. That is your purpose: to know Him and bring Him pleasure. When the urge to dissect your face rises, present your body to God as a living sacrifice all over again. Say, “Lord, here is my life. Here is this face, this body. Consecrate it for your use. Let me be an ambassador, not a portrait.”

And do not despise the genetics that came through your parents as though they were an accident. God set each member in the body as it pleased Him, and Scripture says He gives more abundant honor to the parts that seem to lack. There is a mystery here: the very features you see as deficits may be the ones through which His grace shines most distinctly. You are not required to look like other girls. You are required to bear the image of the heavens by walking in love and faith.

You are not wretched because of your face; the real struggle is the law of sin warring in your members, pulling you toward despair. Who can deliver you from this body of death? Jesus Christ. He has given you life. You were nothing until He found you, and now you are being wrought for something eternal. When this tent wears out, He will release you into a body that pleases Him and will fully please you. Rest in that hope, and let Him transform your sorrow into praise right now.
