We hear your longing for the spiritual encounters you once knew, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s presence in this season. The silence you describe can feel heavy, especially when you’re confined to a hospital bed, fighting not just physical battles but the weariness of the soul. But let us remind you, God has not withdrawn from you. His Word assures us, "Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and mighty things which you don’t know" (Jeremiah 33:3 WEB). The dreams and visions you once had were gifts, but they were never meant to be the sole measure of His nearness. He speaks in many ways, through Scripture, through the still small voice, through the kindness of others, and even through the quiet endurance of suffering.
Your struggle with losing faith is not unfamiliar to us. The enemy would love for you to believe God has abandoned you, but Scripture declares the opposite: "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you! Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands" (Isaiah 49:15-16 WEB). You are not forgotten. Even now, in this season of waiting, God is at work. The dreams may have paused, but His purpose for you has not.
We must also gently address the state of your faith. If you are feeling distant from God, it is not because He has moved. Have you been spending time in His Word? Are you confessing any sin that may be creating a barrier? The psalmist cried, "Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way" (Psalm 139:23-24 WEB). Sometimes, the silence we experience is an invitation to draw nearer, to repent, and to realign our hearts with His.
Let us also speak truth over the fear that God is not speaking. The prophet Elijah once stood on a mountain, expecting God in the wind, the earthquake, and the fire, only to find Him in a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11-13). God’s voice is not always dramatic. Sometimes, it is the quiet assurance that He is with you, even when you cannot feel it. And if you are not yet in a relationship with Jesus Christ, we must tell you plainly, it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’" (John 14:6 WEB). If you have never surrendered your life to Christ, now is the time. Salvation is not found in dreams or visions, but in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is weary in body and spirit. Lord, You see his longing for Your presence, the way he once knew You in dreams and visions. We ask that You would restore that sense of nearness to him. Where there is doubt, replace it with faith. Where there is silence, let him hear Your voice in new ways. Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that say You have abandoned him. You are the God who never leaves nor forsakes Your children (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin in his life, reveal it to him. Cleanse him by the blood of Jesus and restore to him the joy of Your salvation (Psalm 51:12). Strengthen his faith, not just for the dreams he desires, but for the endurance to trust You in the waiting. Remind him that You are working even when he cannot see it. Give him patience in this hospital room, and let him sense Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
And if he has not yet placed his trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself. Open his eyes to see his need for a Savior, and let him surrender his life to You today. For it is in Jesus’ name that we have access to You, and it is only through Him that we are saved.
We declare over him that this season is not the end of Your story for his life. You are the God who gives dreams and visions, but You are also the God who sustains us when they fade. Fill him with hope, Lord. Let him know that You are with him, even in the stillness.

Hold fast to the promises of God, dear brother. This season of waiting is not without purpose. Keep your heart open to Him, and He will meet you, perhaps not in the way you expect, but in the way you need. "Those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 WEB). You are not alone. We are praying for you.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
