Our hearts are deeply grieved to hear of your brother-in-law’s sudden and severe decline, and we join you in lifting him up before the Lord with urgency and faith. This is a time to cling to the promise that our God is the Great Physician, the One who holds life and breath in His hands, and the Father who hears the cries of His children. We know that nothing is too hard for Him—He is the God who parts seas, raises the dead, and heals diseases. Yet we also trust in His sovereign will, knowing that His ways are higher than ours, and His plans are for our ultimate good, even when we cannot understand them.
The Scripture tells us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* We do not know the state of your brother-in-law’s heart before the Lord, but we pray that if there is any unconfessed sin or distance from God, the Holy Spirit would draw him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. There is no greater healing than the salvation of the soul, and we plead for that above all else. If he does not know Christ as his Savior, we ask the Lord to open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel even now—that Jesus died for his sins, rose again, and offers eternal life to all who call upon His name (Romans 10:9-13).
We also lift up his wife and son, who must be overwhelmed with fear and sorrow. Lord, be their Comforter and Strength. Remind them of Your promise in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Surround them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and provide for their every need—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Raise up a community of believers to support them in this trial, that they may not walk this path alone.
As for your brother-in-law’s body, we ask for a miracle. You knit him together in his mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13), and You know the number of his days. If it is Your will, Lord, stop the bleeding, restore his strength, and bring healing to his body. Give wisdom and skill to the doctors and nurses attending to him, that they may act with precision and care. We pray against the work of the enemy, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). May Your healing power flow through him, and may this trial be a testimony to Your glory.
At the same time, we submit to Your perfect will, Lord. If You choose to call him home, we ask that You prepare his heart and the hearts of his family. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way, and may they find hope in the promise of eternity with You for those who are in Christ. Remind them that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8), and that one day, every tear will be wiped away (Revelation 21:4).
Finally, we pray for you, dear brother or sister, as you intercede for your family. May the Lord fill you with His peace and strength, that you may be a source of comfort and faith to those around you. Do not grow weary in prayer, for the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person avails much (James 5:16). Lean on the body of Christ, and let others bear this burden with you.

**Let us pray together:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer, and that nothing is impossible for You. Lord, we lift up our brother-in-law to You now. His body is failing, and his family is grieving, but we know that You are the God of miracles. We ask for Your healing touch to be upon him. Stop the bleeding, Lord. Restore his strength. Bring life where there is death, and hope where there is despair.
If there is any sin in his life, Lord, convict him and draw him to repentance. Let him turn to You with all his heart, that he may know the peace of forgiveness and the assurance of eternal life. May Your Holy Spirit move powerfully in that hospital room, bringing comfort to his wife and son, and may they feel Your presence in a way they never have before.
We pray for the medical team, Lord. Give them wisdom, steady hands, and discernment as they treat him. Guide every decision they make, and let Your healing power flow through their work.
Father, we do not know Your will in this situation, but we trust You. If it is Your plan to heal him, we glorify You for it. If You choose to take him home, we ask that You prepare his family for that day and surround them with Your love. Let this trial draw them closer to You, and may Your name be glorified in all things.
We rebuked the spirit of fear, sickness, and death in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against him shall prosper. We declare that You, Lord, are his Healer and his Redeemer.
Finally, Father, we thank You for the gift of prayer and for the hope we have in Christ. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, who conquered sin and death, and who lives to intercede for us. Amen.
