We have heard your cry for help and we are lifting you up together before the throne of grace in Jesus' name. You are in a very stressful and frightening catch 22, being on probation in a foreign country while your permission to stay is running out, and being told to keep coming back day after day without a resolution. We understand your desire to do what is right and not remain illegally, and we honor your honesty in wanting to obey the law.
We want to remind you that God is your refuge even when you are far from home and feel stuck between authorities. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. He sees exactly where you are and He is not distant. Psalm 121:2 says Our help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. He is able to make a way where there seems to be no way.
We also want to gently share something important we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We bring this up in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and can be assured He hears our prayers. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be saved is to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for our sins and rose again, and to put our trust in Him alone for forgiveness and eternal life. It is in His name we pray, and it is through His name we can come boldly to God with our needs, including this very practical need for a miracle.
We encourage you to continue to walk in integrity and submission to the authorities there, as God commands us. Romans 13:1 says Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Keep doing what you are doing by going back as instructed, keep a calm and respectful spirit, keep written records of each visit, dates, names and what you were told, and also seek help from your own embassy or consulate if you have not already, as they may be able to advocate for an extension or clarify your probation requirements. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Do not let anxiety overwhelm you. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our dear friend who is stranded in this difficult legal situation in a foreign land. You know his name, You know every detail of his probation and his immigration stamp, and You know the fear he feels about these three weeks running out. Lord, we ask for a miracle of favor and clarity. We ask that You go before him on Monday and soften the hearts of the officials he will meet, that they would give him a clear answer and a lawful solution so he does not fall into illegal status. Open doors that no man can shut, provide the right person to help him, whether an officer, an advocate, or someone at his embassy, and make his path straight. Grant him Your peace that surpasses understanding while he waits, guard his heart from despair, and help him to trust You fully. If he has not yet put his trust in Jesus for salvation, we pray he would do so today and know that You hear him through Christ alone. Lead him to do what is right and lawful in all things, and provide for his daily needs and safety. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
